Can't see us wanting to do that. Don't we have Crawley away on the 14th, followed by the trip to Torquay on the 16th?

My 1st live Ebbsfleet game. Sorry I jinxed it for you.

Sloppy defending for the 1st two goals. But they were down the far end so I could see exactly what happened.

Had a couple of good chances at 0-0 and 2-0 but didn't take them.

The guy on the wing was clean though at one point but seemed to lack the confidance to shoot and by the time he made his mind up he was closed down. Not much in the way of service to the 9 and 10.

So the only way is up for my Ebbsfleet watching career.

The England C game will probably prevent a game being played then anyway.

However, we only have 3 free midweeks after that - 26/2 (May be needed for FA Trophy Replay), 11/3, and 15/4. If we beat Burton, we'll need to fit in the Halifax (A) and Rushden (H) games as well as the Farsley (H) game.

Looking at other clubs fixtures, I think that would mean Farsley on 26/2, R&D 11/3, and Halifax 15/4 (Based on fact that Halifax have fixtures scheduled on 26/2 and 11/3 already, and if we are arranging a game for 26/2, it cant be R&D as we wont needto rearrange this unless either us or them make the FAT semis and this wont be known until 23/2 at earliest, whilst Farsley already needs rearranging). If we need a replay to beat Burton, any fixture from 26/2 would need to move to a later date when we would have 2 midweek games. The KSC game also needs to be fitted in , of course, so we might have to play 2 midweek games twice

Fixture congestion is the inevitable price of remaining in so many competitions at this stage of the season. It is also the reason why so many teams in this position fail to win these competitions/trophies. If we can triumph in only one it will still have been a successful season.

I wasn't at the game last night but spoke to one of the diehards who did travel. The team LD put out was reasonable but with only 4 regulars in LDs current preferred starting line-up it was clear that he was not really serious about achieving a win (in a going out all guns blazing way) and that therefore the strength of the opposition was going to be a key factor. In fact the Terras only made a couple of changes from the FA Trophy game on Saturday so were definitely the stronger of the two teams. The defence made errors in the second half and these accounted for at least two of the goals. Bull was perhaps the best Fleet defender on the night. The usual delayed substitutions were too late to influence the game.

If we had to be eliminated from one of the competitions we were in it is probable that most fans would have chosen the SS. And that is probably the way that LD saw it too.

Not sure we would deliberately go out to lose, in fact having watched Weymouth on the previous 2 occasions (v poor) I thought that regardless of the team we fielded (within the rules) we would still have a good chance. So a score-line 4 - 0 was a bit of a surpise but I am sure no-one will be too disappointed that we are out.

If that was the case he obviously didn't consider the fans that made the trip to Weymouth, who didn't go to watch their team lose on purpose.

But yes it is no great tragedy that we did lose.

It hits you hard when an unbeaten run comes to an end, especailly a heavy 4-0 defeat, away from home on a wet Tuesday night.

Best thing I got from last night was an ice cold bottle of Bulmers in the pub (I didn't feel like a Strongbow last night, Hirsty!) Still in the Trophy though, only three games from Wembley, and a chance of a play-off place still in reach.

We have to be a good losers to be a good winners!

I doubt any team goes out to lose... but not being upset by being knocked out is hardly a crime. Noone will even remember who won the Shield this time next year.

I would have thought they'd be happy just to see the Fleet playing. Inevitably we can't win everything and Liam's sorting out his priorities. Being out the SS means he can concentrate on more important things. Winning runs never last forever and tend to be ended by a rather heavy defeat. I think this is good in this case as the team knows what they're capable of, but doesn't take it for granted, as we push on into the final stages of the season.
