MyFC to vote on new Nike kit for next season...

I just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Nothing to do with ethics, or anything like that... Sure that NIKE are superb, in developing nations... My concern is; whatever happened to agreement??? Read their script... refers to all kind(s) of merchandise..i.e. ta,ta, 'Fleet Shop'; hence..'Welcome to the all-new, brand-new, online- soon kinda stuff.' Has this already been decided?? I only wanted to buy a pen; and a MUG.. not so concerned about a vote - obviously.

A lot of the existing fans can also be classified as "long term fans of the club", but we don't seem to count for much......unless we part company with 35 of the Queen's pound coins !!

I'll second that, whilst many regular posters on here semed to have joined and are happy to revel in the shirtfest the majority of long term fans are ignored. Not what MyFC was about I thought.

As for the economics saying that it will bring in £50,000 - £100,00 is all well and good but I suspect the margins on the existing shirts would do the same or better if they were bought in the same numbers (yes there are peripheral benefits for the team).

I appreciate there may be supply and cashflow issues with the current supplier but I think the thing that sticks out for me is that it appears that they weren't made aware of what was happening, a bit shabby really.

Strangely, I do not think you are.

Yet, I still voted to take the nike deal, as the benefits for the squad are far superior to anything we would get from any other dealer, and yes, you are right, if the myfc start to go belly up, then Nike will be the first to jump ship.

If I were to sell my soul to the devil - multi-national, bi-yearly, kit manufacturers - I would prefer a choice of various satanic icons!! Why are England playing in red tonite?? Oh yeh, 'cos manufacturers insisted that they model their nice, new kit. Why? Oh yeh, so loadsa people go out and buy it. The beauty of corporate power??

From what I remember* of the article, the approach to Nike was made by one or more MyFC members.

* I say remember as the MyFC site seems to be down at the moment... I want me £7.50 back. smile

On the myfc forum, it's been said, by doheochai I believe that our current deal with Jako has us buying the tops at £20 and selling them for £38, which I believe would make that 95% profit? Is this right?

If that's the case, how can a deal giving us up to 35% be too good a deal?

Also, what happens to all the rest of the stuff in the club shop? Will the jackets still be sold or will there be new Nike jackets? How about the rest of the stuff? Will it all be replaces? What are the profit margins on all that stuff presently and who will profit from that in the future?

Who will then run this shop? Will it continue to be staffed as at present or will they bring in their own people?

Sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it
