STFC Legends Club

So who's nominated their all time STFC 'Legend'? I found it tough, although I've 'only' supported the Rebels for 23 years there were so many players I could have nominated as my legend. But in the end I went with Steve Thompson as he was a great all round player.

If the club wants money stop dressing it up and ask straight!

The 500 club is an example of dressing things up - you raise £60 from each member of the 500 club (500x£60=£30,000) then you give half of it back!!!!!

If people can find £60 that they are prepared not to see again you potentially had £30,000 in the clubs money box, however you give half of it back and you end up with £15,000.

Why do people want to "win" something, are they not winning by giving all the money to the club and see it survive?

my dear SR not everyone is as noble as you, i would give 60 pounds and nor recieve anything back but unfortunately the reality of today is that to get those extra people upwards of 500 you have to think of various games and gimmicks to raise funds.this is whether you are a bigger non league club or small.

i know what your saying but people are prepared to enter something if they think there is a prize, also people when they win sometimes donate all or part to different causes,i.e trust etc or other charities or buy a few beers, cant see any harm in that.

The 500 Club is a good opportunity for supporters to get something back whilst helping the club. By supporting the draw and getting others involved we can "spread the wings" and open up our supporter base hopefully.

In the short term though, it does provide another revenue stream for the club.

The Legends will bring in some revenue, but perhaps more importantly it will hopefully lead to us getting in touch with some of the legends from the past. Didcot held a successful Legends Day when we travelled there in the league and we would be looking to do something similar when we are in a position to contact the legends and arrange a match in which a number of them could attend.
