Boxing Tonight

Recommended Posts

As some of you know I boxed for several years and recently started to get involved with some boxing coaching and am taking the ABA coaching course.

As a coincedance a guy at my work, who boxed at University 6 years ago, agreed on a Reunion a month ago to fight a current boxer at the University. He asked me to coach him for the last month as we do some pad work and sparring anyway. After a serious one month beasting he has lost 10 pound to get to the middleweight limit and the big fight is tonight!

Can't wait as it is the first time I will be in the corner as opposed to in the ring. It's a big show at Oxford University with 30 odd fights and there's sure to be plenty of beer and young drunk teen bints on display! grin

Had to be said mate. It was there for the taking! tongue

Good luck to you with the exams and stuff. I suppose to gotta find a job somewhere else in Sport, as you can't seem to get one in Football anymore, let alone as a tea-boy! grin

Also good luck to the fella tonight. Hope it all goes well.

Yeah I did mate. Lost 3-2 to Potters Bar. 3-0 down @ half-time when I came on.

Set up the first goal, and had a hand in the second. Was pleased with how I played.

Pace was faster than the ESL.

For Canvey ABC, I was a welterweight/light-middle and beat a guy from St Monicas to win the (now defunct) PLA'S in 1989. What was your weight?

I started competing when I was 12/13 and finished when I was nearly 18. At first it was just done in kilo's and too be honest I didn't really take much notice of the weight but I went from bantam/featherweight to light/lightwelter weight I think.
