A local boy done good, it was obvious he was capable of top class football when played for us, he was head and shoulders above the other 21 players on the pitch and has to be one of the best players to have ever pulled on a Gravesend and Northfleet shirt. If he keeps playing like he is then an England call up isn't out of the question.

West Ham let him go for nothing.

I'm not going to make myself popular on here, but I believe Jimmy was playing in a pre-season friendly for Dartford against Gravesend when Andy Ford allegedly tapped him up. wink

Yes, I believe Bullard did play one or two games for Dartford, but he obviously couldn't see the sense in joining the nomadic tribe of Dartford players, playing home games on a different ground every other week. Hardly a good career move for a player who was/is ambitious.

Hence the reason for signing for the 'Fleet. A club who could meet his ambitions and give him the opportunity to take his career to a higher level.

Not to a lower level, as would have been the case had he stayed at Dartford.

I don't know why you keep on about Dartford to Lager Top. He can't be from there as I'm fairly certain they don't have internet access there.

Or electricity

Or knives and forks

There was no sell on clause.

There was a clause that meant we would have got extra payments based on the number of first team appearances that Jimmy made.

I believe, from memory, that it would have been up to £150,000 of additional payments, but as it was we got only the initial £35,000.
