Weymouth FA Trophy Game

Recommended Posts

Whats happened to comments on today's game? I cant believe its 10 pm & theres nothing on this board.

Dont think we were at our best today, but that said Weymouth only created one effort of note all game and we were generally the better side- particularly in the second half.

Barrett was a little fortunate with the goal - at least it was a downward header, but I thought the keeper made a meal of it to present Barrett with the chance to volley in from 6 yards.

Good battling from Akinde to win the ball in the corner & another great run & cross from Stacy to make the chance in the 1st place though.

Thought Ricko had a really solid game today and he would have been my Fleet player of the match.

A dreadful challenge by their sub to earn his red card - Luke (?) did well to avoid it & a potentially bad injury.

On to the quarter finals then, which look like being potentially an all Blue Square Premer comp (although Tamworth could still be the only club from outside the top Non League if they beat Stafford in a replay).

I'd like to avoid Torquay, Aldershot and Burton/ Histon.

Ideally, we'll get to play the winners of Tamworth and Stafford, but if not, Rushden or Crawley at home would be the preferred options. Farsley at home (if they can beat York tomorrow)would also be an option (and would be ironic as we were due to play them a home in the league that day).

Well the game was so and so for a while. It looked like to me it could of gone to a replay if their keeper and not of let thumbled the ball right in front of Barrett. And Ricketts last minute tackle was class cause if he had of not done that in time we would of gone 1-0 down for sure. So I think we where lucky to win. Oh and one of their players(Can't remember his name) got a straight red card for an absolutely reckless two footed challenge on Stacy Long.

I thought that as well Slarti. Looked a little sharper and faster. I would love to see him come into a bit of form as I think he would genuinely do well for us.

Its the sign of a good side if they win while not playing well and we proved the point yesterday!

I think John Hollins has got a lot of work to do to turn Weymuff's season around as they looked pretty poor yet again even with playing with 9 or 10 men behind the ball for much of the time.

And my man of the match? Had to be Ricko! He is a clas act at right back, his positional sense is spot on and when he improves his distribution a bit its going to be difficult to keep hold of him. I think the samecan be said of Cronin, Smith and Akinde too.

And like DA11, I really hope Chucki runs into some form and gets a bit of what strikers all over the World need at times .......Luck!

I honestly think he is a more than useful player and its good to see that the boo-boys are begining to get off his back and give him some encouragement.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the referee from yesterday. What a poor game he had. Virtually every decision he gave was laughably bad.

The only call he got right was the straight red, and I daresay had he given a yellow, and the FA seen the video, theref would have been back in Sunday league football.

It is to our credit we did not rise to some rough tactics. Keeping our composure in the face of some ludicrous decisions definately helped us win the game

York beat Farsley 2-0 today, so its Torquay,Aldershot, Crawley, York & Rushden as well as ourselves already through, and the other 2 places to be filled by Burton/Histon and Stafford/Tamworth.

So, if Crawley hadnt been deducted 6 points, the last 8 would include 6 of the top 12 in the Blue Square Premier.Must surely be one of the strongest last 8 in the competition for a few years.

Not a good game yesterday compared with recent matches but thats how it goes sometimes.Im more concerned with the slowness of substitutions, with only a few injuries,we have a good set of players on the bench. We have alot of games over the coming weeks and theres a need to use your players,i think 2 subs should be used when theres 25 to 30 mins left of the match, leaving one sub back for any injuries.Yesterday moore was having a job to keep on his feet, he got into a few good positions only to fall over,i would have given percell a go,also akinde, as good as he is, wasnt at his best.Chukki came on and was positive in his play.Coleman is a useful player and could take over in midfield.Dont jump down my throat, because im not moaning i just think LD should use his subs better.

We also had the best chance of the half through Stuart Beavon but he just delayed it a little and their keeper made a good save.

Wrong Hollins. Lance didn't do a thing, Ricketts got back and cleared.

Quote:
"The goal came before that when they made a good chance, which Jason saved well. Unfortunately, the rebound fell to one of their players, who flicked it back to somebody else and he drove it into the net.

Wrong Hollins. Barrett took the first touch, Barrett scored with the second touch.

If the guy doesn't know what's happening in two of the major moments of the game, I doubt he was watching the Douglas incident properly either!

bring on anyone!!! we beat oxford last season (their fisrt defeat) we beat torquay this season (thier first defeat) and we smashed burtons away 100% unbeaten run this season . i'd rather play them in the next round than playing them in the semi-finals and losing or losing in the final

(if we get that far ..... doupt it)

if we win tommorow were in the quater finals of the f.a trophy satanta shield and the kent senior cup

cum on the fleet
