Today's game

Forest Gump

Ok, I was wrong, turns out we can actually score! Pity about the rest of the performance though. We were once again woeful.

A few things though, second half we had three stewards 'looking after' two of us, while the 100+ down your end were being marshaled by just the one!

Now I know what happened when we played you last year at your place, and it doesn't seem you have made any progress in overcoming your problems.

One of the stewards behind the away goal was giving racial abuse during the entire second half at every opportunity, even though of one his fellow stewards had asked him to stop.

Secondly, at the end of the game one of you 'stewards' on the pitch grabbed our captain by the neck and pushed him in the direction of the tunnel. Should this be the behavior of a steward?

The problem Mr. Gump, was your twat of a Chairman standing amongst the Canvey fans during both halves and provoking a reaction with his constant protesting at everything we did.

Why did he specifically choose to stand amongst the same set of fans during both halves, when he could've chose to stand with the other Forest fans. He left shortly after the second goal, so I wouldn't exactly call him a hardcore supporter either.

As for the Forest Captain, maybe it wasn't the job of the steward to do what he did, if indeed he even did it. But it was deserved after his performance during the game and I'd rather a steward protect our players and give him his just rewards. Also, why was the Forest goalkeeper a complete nonce, getting involved with every decision that the Referee made? Right from the start, when he was protesting about his knee! His kicking wasn't much to write home about either.

The match itself was bearable. Some of our play was shocking, but Forest were dire. I did like the Forest player with the dreads, I can only think he was injured as to the reason why he was subbed.

Russell gifted Forest their goal, but we should've taken our earlier chances to go in at half-time with the lead. I wasn't at Ware, but was under the assumption that Clydie had an amazing game. Well today was a total contrast to that statement.

There was a massive gap in our midfield today, where was Halle? Glad to see Dobbo get 45 under his belt, the sooner he's back marshalling that midfield the better.

Like I said, Forest were dire and Ruggy's goal was a poor one to concede, but they count all the same. Leon's was quality though, great vision to place it past the 'Keeper. Both Currans should've got on the scoresheet, but through either poor vision, first touch, control of just plain selfishness they didn't.

TWO penalties that we should've had in the first half: Jay's shirt being pulled was inside the box when the Referee blew up, but the Referee decided to take the ball back to where the initial run by Curran was made, not where the foul was conceded. Ruggy's body check was a foul, for the fact that the Forest player made no effort for the ball and he took Ruggy out while he was going round the player.

Temper's flaired at the end because of an incompetent Referee. Had he shown some guts during the game, the Forest Captain and probably Jay Curran wouldn't have played to the end of the game. Referees are mostly never either good or bad, they're just inconsistant and weak and it's these two factors that make them whistle happy and frustrating to understand.

Hopefully Corbell's and Stuart's injuries aren't too serious and they're back relatively soon, although with Corbell being carried off at half-time it doesn't look too good for him.

I wouldn't waste any first team players against Corncord except maybe Dobbo. We should focus all our efforts on Redbridge and look to close the gap between us and Ware, while we still have games in hand over them and Maldon. We need to really forget about today's performance, three points is three points, re-group ourselves especially in Midfield and focus on gaining as many points as possible before we have Sudbury at Park Lane.

We may still have 16 games left, but it's now we need to start grinding out the results that could make or break playoff positions. 35 more points is realisticly the minimum we should be looking to gain before the end of the season.

Our chairman took a place in with your fans in an attempt to redirect some of the abuse being given to our 'keeper.

As for leaving early, he had to go to work, honestly! He's a boxing promoter and had fights on the undercard of the Amir Khan fight.

Didn't think the ref had the greatest of games either, stopped it at every chance he had and it therefore didn't flow at all.

The dread-locked player is our Barbados international and will be joining up with a couple of your players I believe? I didnt think he was that good today, looked very half hearted, maybe because he didnt want to get injured? which is understandable really.

As for 'always playing the race card'...erm, we wouldn't have to play it if there were no problems would we!

Come on Gumpy, it was me giving your keeper the most 'abuse' and your chairman came nowhere near me. My abuse? I shouted things like;
"Ref! Get a grip, the 'keepers got a hurty knee."
"Hey 'keeper, that looks bad. Do you want some magic cream and a plaster?"
"I'd get that looked at if I were you. My mother swears by a few dabs of eau de Cologne."
"Keeper, I've got a poorly knee as well. Isn't it horrid when the fans are so cruel?"

Sorry if that was so over the top that the Chairman felt the need to intervene. Actually I think the 'keepers OTT reaction to a minor scratch was more insulting to the adults he was playing with than anything I could ever say.

However, I apologise unreservedly and will stay in at playtime on Monday and tidy the wendy house. Perhaps your 'keeper would like to join me, or will he be sitting on the naughty chair already?

If their Chairman wanted to protect his Goalkeeper from the 'abuse' from Canvey fans, he would've been better standing with the more vocal crowd under the shed. The fact he was goading our fans with comments like "What's the score?" after Forest went one-up didn't help matters. Although the comment in reponse to that was quite light-hearted: "What's your league position?"

If Forest and Witham had any fans to create an atmosphere, I'd love to see their Chairmen face off with one another.

I'd back the Forest chairman against Witham's answer to Basil Fawlty if it came to a 'face off' Being a Boxing promoter, he must know a few moves!!!

i dont know anything about the stewarding incident, and never heard anything about it. i found myself chatting with the Forrest subs who seemed like a good bunch of lads who seemed to take the banter from the shelter in very good sport.

As for the game itself, we certainly made hard work of it but three points is three points and all that really matters is getting the victory.

I don't think Danny Curran is suited to the centre midfield role. He is better playing up front or just behind the strikers where he can hold the ball up and dictate the play.

With both him and Clydie pushing forward it left massive gaps in the midfield that a better side would have exploited.

Halle wasn't fit unfortunately so if he had been in there, it would have given us a bit more balance.

I thought we showed great spirit to come back from a goal down. That was a game a few months back we'd have probably drawn

Great goal by Leon. He said to us on Thursday night that he had a good feeling he was going to score on Saturday and although he left it late, he was proved right!!!

Good to see Dobbo and Crow back. Dobbo looked understandably a bit rusty but did really well when he came on. His distribution was excellent.

Looking forward to Concord on Tuesday before the big game at Redbridge next week.

I'm getting bored with Waltham Forest, same unfounded accusations every time we play them tired

As for the match, I thought we were poor first half. Can't understand how the number 5 who fouled Jay Curran was not sent off as the last man. Saying that, Jay Curran looked as though he could have gone on a few occasions over the course of the game.

Second half we played much better, and pretty much camped the Waltham Forest half. Ruggy's goal was a massive relief, and when Leon scores the place went mental!

After a couple of fairly comfortable wins, it was good to see that we can still produce the gritty display needed to come back from a goal down and still get the win. Despite the average performance, I think this will do us good and keep our feet on the ground.

Finally, one of the highlights were the kids singing on the main stand, superb!!

The next generation of the mighty Yellow Army, best bit was when they was giving their no18 stick during a short break in play, he had no answer for them!!! Maybe they were the reason their chairman went behind the goal!!!

Guest MOB Snr

I think you will find all of these sour grapes came because, the guy had to face a hostile crowd behind the goal singing "sit down shut up", there was about a dozen of them all 9 year olds!!!!

Best bit was when their chairman left and the kids started singing "We can see you sneaking out!" Classic grin

superb performance by the junior wing of the yellow army, I bet the people in the main stand wondered what the hell was going on.As for the match agree with you glenn we strugled in the 1st half but really got hold of the game in the 2nd half and i feel we should have one by a bigger margin in the end. very good goal by Leon which had the crowd in the shed going mental through relief.

I think Leon's goal was a really important goal. Although we've been on a good run recently, this was a game we couldn't afford to even draw as it would have left us needing to make the points up elsewhere.

I was beginning to think that second goal wasn't going to come.

We are now in a great position in where if we win our games in hand that will take us into the top five.
