Billericay 3 Heybridge 2

Recommended Posts

A game such as this earlier in the season would have ended in a loss after going down to 2 early goals in the opening 8 minutes. But since Jason and Grant have come in they've installed a sense of belive and determination in the team and everyone put in their shift today. Bradders terrorised their 3 (the one with the ponytail) all game and always looked a threat, we definitely look as though we can score goals against any team in the league. Play off expectations rise ...

A fantastic fight back. We looked a class above Swifts for much of the 2nd half.

But why do we have to do it the hard way? I sincerely hope that is the last time I see Darren start at left back, unless it's forced on us from injurys. I don't care if he played in that position for Brazil, AC Milan or Shamrock Rovers; for 'ricay that role belongs to the man who has made it his own over that last few seasons.

Darren is a solid, dependable, brave, passionate player who, in my opinion, is an important part of this squad. But he shouldn't be starting ahead of Kerrers in that position.

Bradley looked magnificent going forward today. A couple of lapses of concentration when defending, but more than made up for by a sublime free-kick that would not have looked out of place in The Premadonnaship.

I felt a bit sorry for Billy as he had one or two great efforts saved by Swifts keeper that on another day would have been certain goals. As long as he carrys on in the same vein I'm sure he'll score a hatfull for us.

I wonder how many goals we've now scored as a direct result of Hodgey being fouled in, or around, the box?

I agree with Rick, we looked so much better with Kerrers playing - left back is probably one of the few specialist positions in a team.

I have to say that the substitution of Leon by Wayne worked well also, frankly Leon had an appalling first half and needs to be put under pressure to hold his place. Jamie Dormer also seems to have more space and opportunity in his absence.

Don't know what that surgeon did to Lee Hodges when he had his recent operation but it seems to work !! He is playing amazing football at present.

Well done for a great performance after such a poor start.3 point against Horsham and we could move to play off position!!!

Again a welcome result, BUT questions,!!! why did Blewitt get a start ???, he looked totally un-prepared and unfit, gave away too many balls and a 'penalty'. Kerrigan should have had this place from KO, I think this was a poor management choice.

Poor fist half we struggled to get any control, a good goal from BWG just before half time, but a disappointing first 45 mins performance.

Second half some good substitutions and we started to play better football, the team were moving and working together. Semashia had a great game when he was brought on, and I thought BWG was outstanding, Billy Bricknel was creating chances but unlucky today, Hodge again so close and creating his special magic and Dormer the mainstay.

I'm certainly not disappointed, but I think there's still a lots more we can achieve from our team, and I am looking forward to seeing it....

I thought we only came out of the dressing room at 3.10, shocking start to the game and Swifts took full advantage. I thought pulling one back just before half time was again key and the second half was one way traffic.

BWG was excellent and terrorised their number three until he was taken off. Fantastic free kick to equalise and a nice pull back for the winner. Great stop from McSweeney on the line right at the death to preserve the three points.

According to BBC Essex, Justin Edinburgh was watching today. Hope he wasn't scouting any Blues players.

Interesting 'discussion' at the end of the game between Statham and their number 5.

Onwards to another tricky game on Tuesday night, but positive thinking. COYB.

And we do it again!!! 2 goals down and we fight back!!! It's almost becoming a habit. I'm not going to go into the wrongs or rights of the team selection and I do have my opinion but Jason and Grant did have the courage to change it at half time and change it positively (bloody hell, that wasa long sentance).

Badley deserves man of the match for both his goals but all the team battled hard but BWG added the cream to the foundation that was being laid by the rest of the players.

Why do we d it the hard way? Well, as a long standing supporter of the club, since the 80's there has been no other way for the team. If there was a choice between an easy or hard road, the latter has always been chosen...it may make for uncertain times but it has been exciting!!!

Agreed. And it's easy to be wise after the event. They made the changes at the time & made things happen.

Being an "armchair" manager is the easiest job in the game because "Harry" Hindesight is one of the "tools" which are employed. Something I believe the "real" managers would only be happy to have but don't.

Jason and Grant have shown on more occassions that they are willing to change the game with whatever means they have at their command and I for one support them in that. I may not agree with them all the time but I'm not the one doing, what is IMO, a very difficult job.

Agree hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I was still very miffed that Kerrers didn't start, but well done to Jason and Grant for changing it.

Also a word for Michael Black. BWG and Hodgie will get the plaudits for their attacking play but I thought after Leon had a mare in the 1st half, Blackie slotted into the defensive midfield role and was excellent. He looked a bit lost in the first half but he certainly knows what he's doing when playing the 'Gamo role', breaking up the play and playing the simple passes to the more creative players, well done Blackie!

I agree wholeheartedly with the above.

Question for Stattos:-
When was the last time Leon was subbed other than for injury?

Critical game on Tuesday as Horsham have loads of games in hand. The momentum is building. Come on you blues!!!!!

I didn't think Leon H was the worst player on the pitch. I thought the whole of the midfield was having a mare for a time in the first half

I've always wanted to say this.

T,was a game of two half's.

1st half was a shocker start, After their 2nd i thought whoops.. But BWG saved the day with a lot of help from his team mates.

2nd Half was all about Billericay. The lads rose to the occasion and Jason/Grant saw what was needed and changed it.

I did think towards the end that the ref was taking the Mick but i am not a great fan of these ref's anyway.

But we were never in any doubt of the end score because Keith & I decided early in the 1st half that we would do them 3-2

Onwards to Tuesday and plenty of Vocal support from Jason/Grants Blue Army

I agree with Bluetone re Blackie he was not in the game at all in the first half but was very influential in the 2nd half. I believe we must start with Kerrers as he is a class left back. I have no problem in playing Blewitt in the centre back role as he good in that position, he will have to play there when Alaile goes. All in all the whole team played well in the 2nd half and deserved the victory. Now on to Tuesday.

And probably a bit more from BFJ's Claret army also!

You mean that there may be some Clarets at the game singing above their usual whisper? If so, perhaps they are supporting the wrong club?

Well if there is a thing to be said about learning things from games, i would think Jason/Grant now know the importance of certain positions. I have to say though that the halftime changes were inspirational and Wayne looked good in that position. Brad was influential as was Hodgey, but the most pleasing thing is that we have come back from being 2-0 down this season (Wealdstone/ETU and now Heybridge). Lets not make a habit of it though eh !!!

The confidence could just be coming back ! Well done ALL

I was critical of the management team after the AFCW game as I felt they made us more negative.

I didn't see the change of Wayne for Leon coming, but it was a great move.

Well done to them.

I thought Hodges was outstanding and Billy worked hard enough to deserve more than he got out of the game.

I don't know whether it was simply that BWG played very well, but their 3 was attrocious.

Shame they took him off!
