Attacking free kicks

Flavour of the week following Ronaldo's effort, but what happens at margate ?

We seem to be a bit more of a threat from attacking free kicks these days ;with a bit more aerial presecence and indeed, i think we have scored a couple that way.

We still sometimes have a shot at goal;and as far as i recall, we have not scored in that manner for sometime.

Where i have seen games this season;invariably, it seems its JJ who takes the 'goalshot';but frankly, i cannot recall when he succeeded.(certainly the success rate must be low)

Invariably, they go 'just' over the bar and without any great pace.JJ brings alot of qualities to the team; but can't help thinking that his free kick prowess is a bit overestimated.

I do get a feeling that Ryan Martin is quite eager to 'have a pop' aswell-but have not seen any real evidence that he has got a really unstoppable free kick either.

(I did see Ricardo Joseph hit one shot-not from a free kick-with a bit of venom-maybe he can step up to take them ?)

Can't think of anyone else in the team who has the ability, but it would be nice to think when we have a freekick in attacking position that we have a specialist with at least a 33% chance of seeing a gret shot.

I get a bit bored of seeing endless-'nearly did its'.

I think we miss Protheroe in this respect and would be good to find a viable alternative hotshot.

I'm not expecting 'Ronaldoesq' efforts at Ryman level; but i think we should be doing better-or alternatively-if we have'nt got the ability-admit it-,play the percentage game, and try and score via free kicks to hesd rather than direct 'nearly shots'

Here's hoping that at 5pm today,i'm eating my words and you guys have witnessed 3 unstoppable free kicks flying into the hastings goal

Based upon the fact that ' true communication is the response that you get'; (nil in this case) i must conclude that the topic was deemed not worthy of discussion.

I guess part of me simply wonders if even though we did not score from a free kick, if we shaped up any different in this department on saturday.

Jimmy took an excellent free kick on Saturday which their goalie saved superbly throwing himself to his right of the goal. On that point nobody has mentioned the Hastings goalie, MOM imo, made a few good saves and when he was beaten the defender cleared it off the line from Jimmy.

Further to this, on a similar subject, what about our throw-ins? They are simply awful! Whenever we get a throw-in deep inside the opposition half, it invariably ends up with us losing possession. Many will say that the throw-in is not an essential part of the game but, looking at how successful Ramsgate have been with their attacking throw-ins, I would disagree.

We really could do with someone who can launch the ball into the box from a throw-in; much like Sappleton used to.

Your not wrong "Tony". I went to Hastings and was impressed with the profesional way he was warmed up / coached before the game.

You could see Saturday why he was Keeper of the month for January.
