Estimated attendance for 02/02/08?

Recommended Posts

Evening All,

Just wondering what everybody else's opinion is on the attendance matters for satudays fixture. Not that im trying to get more points in the prediction league! smile I think that somewhere in the region of 1,150 because i was told last night that Weymouth won't be brining many fans, as the can't be bothered basically, and their supporters team are playing Yeovil...

What does everyone else think? Also like to say that i thought Keiron's reply about attendance in a previous topic was very good, and the club should look into it. Kids for a Quid...catchy name wink

Weymouth - only one once away from home this year (Oxford), got beaten easily by Fleet in Jan, wrong end of the table - not likely to bring many fans...

Fleet - scoring for fun, playing good football, plenty of media interest, challenging for a play-off spot...

Would hazard a 900 crowd - local apathy still to be overcome, not an 'attractive' fixture etc

What are the lunchtime and 5.15pm TV games? The Cameraman's theory about these affecting our attendances seems pretty plausible.

Also Weymouth will have probably no more than 50/60 travelling fans.

The weather is predicted to be very cold and possibly some snow.

Some regulars may not wish to pay as their season tickets will not cover entry ( I have never really understood this).

My best prediction:- Between 995 and 1,075.

I have never understood why someone who has a season ticket (and therefore a loyal supporter) for league games would not want to watch cup matches too. I suppose that cost might be a factor, but probably not, because if a supporter can afford to shell out for a season ticket the odd £13.00 shouldn't be a barrier. It does happen though. Cup games are frequently less well attended than league games. While there are probably a number of reasons for this the absence of season ticket holders is certaily one of them.

I would imagine that there are very few clubs who allow entry to cup games via a season ticket particularly at this level. The uncertainty of the number of games that might be played (early elimination or successful participants) and whether they are home or away fixtures are all factors. Clubs such as Arsenal have, to my knowledge, issued season tickets covering Premier, Champions League and FA Cup games (only excluding the League Cup) but obviously this comes at a considerable cost. However, clubs like Arsenal, already knowing that they will have a certain minimum home games in the Champions league, are able to factor these into the charges for their season tickets.

I would be interested to learn what the policy of other clubs might be and also whether they also have smaller attendances for their own cup games.

As far as I know, admission prices are determined by both clubs in a cup tie since the revenue is shared (correct me if I'm wrong?) - so doing something like you suggest Arsenal already does, would involve a lot of guess work. Or maybe Arsenal has a standard charge for cup ties. Even if they do, they have no way of knowing how many home ties they're going to get so I'm a little confused how they can make allowances for cup revenue in their season ticket prices.

Lunchtime on Sky is Man. City v. Arsenal.
5.15 on Setanta is Liverpool v. Sunderland.
...and the Rugby's on BBC1 at 4.00.p.m. (England v. Wales in the Six Nations).

These will definitely have an effect on the gate I think.
950 at Ebbsfleet tomorrow and reduced crowds everywhere else.

As far as Rugby is concerned..I´ll get mi cote.

Those other matchups is boring stuff as well!

I really cannot understand that people manages to retain interest in the prem.It has become increasingly uninteresting.

However, that will of course change when Wolves reaches it!

Watford vs Wolves.

Ebbsfleet vs Weymouth.

Now,those are interesting matchups!
