Back to the thread.......what are peoples thoughts on the ol plastic pitch scenario? Its a bold move by HBFC in my opinion and a big project so I wish them luck with it.

I think it's a very good idea. Artificial playing surfaces are now a long way away from the old 'plastic pitch'.

I love the Third Generation (3G) Artificial Turf Pitches i.e Dartford's.

Some clubs get such a back log of games in this country due to the weather and the exhorbitant cost of creating a decent pitch that sometimes an artificial surface would be more cost and game effective.

Compliance with the FA is essential on choice of pitch. It's also a good money spinner for a club to hire it out. That alone should repay the initial outlay within a workable time plan. cool3

Jonno - In all seriousness can you really see this getting off the drawing board with 'Sugar' overseeing the project, I happened to be speaking to a reliable source in the corridors of power at the Town Hall yesterday and he hadn't even heard of the venture, 'we' will obviously need to get planning permission first as Coles Park is Council owned and they are bound to be apprehensive as 'Sugar' is well known for failing the Local Community in the immediate area.

Surely you are straying in to libel territory here Rhodes?

Also, for a man always quick to pounce upon perceived incompetence, get your facts right. Requirement for Planning Permission has got nothing to do with who owns the land (except in the case of the Crown), and even if the freehold of the land is owned by the Council, it is for the leaseholder (? Haringey Borough Football Club) to decide (within any constraints imposed by the lease) to decide how to occupy the land.

I'm a bit confused about this topic. Haringey Borough withdrew their reserve team from the Islington Midweek League allegedly because the 3G pitches were to hard. Why then would they look to lay a 3G pitch at Coles Park?

Petethegreek - For once we are in total agreement, I too find it difficult to comprehend, perhaps you should ring George Kilikita to see whether there is any truth in it.

If it is true then good luck to Harringey, however can you imagine playing on a nice smooth surface for your home games and then having to travel to the likes of Brache Sparta or (Copthall today). I think that it could ruin any chances of future (football) progression, but does the potential money spinning opportunity out-way the lack of progression?

What reason has he got to lie tho?? He'd end up with serious egg on his face if it was all a load of rubbish. Im confused!

Tight game today Rhodes or was the scoreline not reflective?

Or were you not there, instead being banished by your peers to go and do a bit of "community work", just to get you off the premises and not cause further embarrasment to your club in front of another member club? (Sorry, couldnt resist a dig, seeing as you won today and we lost....)

I phoned Lowfield at about 5.15 and couldn't believe it when Jane I think it was said you had lost 3-1 although I did predict 3-2 to Ampthill who seem to be flying at the moment. Our game was fairrly tight and Bedford Town Reserves led twice but the cream finally rose to the top.

Rhodes, Jane had to leave just after half time. I think you spoke to Jen, Rogers wife.
