Gotta say, i feel sorry for those 6 chelmo fans... grin

"About six of us tried our best. I haven't sung so much at a game for years and my fist is purple from banging the corrugated iron behind the goal. As for the rest of you, what's the matter with you? We are top of the league, were winning at a team who are in great form and were behind covered goals for both halves yet it seemed like a bleedin' tea party at times. I just don't get it."

Nice quote from their match Saturday. If that is what top of the league sounds like i would hate to hear what bottom would be like smile

Exactly WHY do you hope I read it Blue fan?

I'm fully aware that the Claret faithful are not the noisiest fans in the Ryman League. But let's face it, the team appears to be doing "OK" without the reverberation of noise, (and sometimes, the waving of shoes), evident at other clubs.

Allegedly, the Ricay fans out-sung us recently at Melbourne Park. What was the result?

Allegedly, the Carshalton fans out-sung us on Saturday. What was the result?.

Just wish I could attend a few Clarets matches myself, so I could enjoy the football, and join in with the silence.

I think BC, that this demonstrates the difference between a 'club' and a 'collection of players' being bankrolled by people with nothing better to do with their money, other than to satisfy their own egos, in a real life game of Football Manager. Remember that club on an island in the Thames Estuary?

Clearly Chelmsford have a long way to go before they attain the true status of 'club'. Expensive talent is no good to a comunity without the heart and soul required to make it a club.

But where do "clubs" start? Admittidly, you could say that, when Chelmsford moved to Melbourne Park they took the status of a "new club" (note inverted commas). With the publicity surrounding their first few games, they picked up quite a few "new" supporters who have stayed with the club and who live local. The number in attendence at MP only proves that there is the support for the club, maybe at the price of a team that, for want of a better word, are "bank rolled" (and "bank rolled" doesn't always mean success).

Chelmsford remind me of a Non league Chelsea. Some of their supporters may say that isn't a bad thing to draw that comparison, especially with the success that Chelsea have had recently but success doesn't stay with a club forever and the "community" of support for both clubs may wane in the lean years...who knows...my crystal ball can't see that far and present day success in the league is being enjoyed by those that call themselves "loyal Chelmsford supporters"...

...but you can only speculate how many "loyal Chelmsford supporters" will have shopping trips or family commitments booked on match days should they not continue this success...

To suggest that Chelmsford City FC have no "community" as regards their support is an insult to those that supported the club through their tenure at New Lodge. It's those supporters that provide the "community" because, as past expereiences at BIllericay (and Chelmsford and Canvey) show, should there ever be lean times, the loyal contigent will still support their club and identify with club...
