Ebbsfleet United v Dartford

Recommended Posts

Thought it was a really entertaining night of football played in a good spirit. Pace and class of Ebbsfleet shone through and, of course the first goal was against the run of play but that's football and I think going in at 1-1 HT helped liven up the evening and kept the good football coming.

Darts really did turn out a second eleven with nine players who almost never get a start against a full-time Ebbsfleet squad that seemed pretty similar to Saturday's starting line-up so perhaps the result was inevitable - but a fun game nevertheless. Segregation totally unneccessary imho. Good vibes between these teams and also supporters and a pity you lost bar revenue from the decision.

Heard a couple of Ebbsfleet officials put the Darts number at 450 through the away turnstiles and a dozen or so who crept in the other way and made their way along the back - so around 460 in total.

Thought the ref was pretty good and worked hard to calm people down off the ball rather than reach for cards an stop play all the time. He seemed to know that neither side wanted either a) injuries or B) more suspension points at this point in their league campaigns.

A good night out and on behalf of a floating Dartford fan, thanks for the hospitality.

I refer the honorable gentleman to Terrace Talk in tonight's programme written by Alan Parker (didn't he direct Bugsy Malone?) and his comment "we must accept that this competition may not be high on the priority list of either club this season, but let's hope for a good game nevertheless" So I don't think it was just Darts fans who anticipated a second eleven from fleet. Simply a fact, not a criticism. Ebbsfleet put out virtually a first team. Dartford, perhaps more wary of fitness and injury simply didn't. But it WAS a good game nevertheless so happy to have parted with my £6. old enemy we may be but Ebbsfleet don't seem to mind training on our 3G pitch from time to time I understand. I'm sure we're happy to help our neighbours out. lol

We helped you out mate when you needed it. Where would you be now if we hadn't?

I went to a Dartford game when you played at our place and like last night there was not more than 300 Darts fans in the ground. Infact that time there was more like 200 there.

And as I said many Fleet fans came in the away end, perhaps these are the people that Jeff said he hadn't seen at the Fleet for ages? It would make sense. There was not more than 300 in that away end.

I think you'll find that the correct English is 'Should have gone to Specsavers' - no such verb in English as 'Of'.

We finished the match with three regulars on the pitch and we started with five so not what you would call virtually a first team but much stronger than we usually put out in the KSC.

It clearly wasn't Dartfords first team either or they wouldn't be top of the table, best of luck to the Darts for their promotion challenge, last nights result may have been meaningless but it was a reminder of past derby matches and a stronger Dartford would be good for both clubs in the future.

Indeed.

LD should be congratulated for putting out a side that looked capable of winning the trophy. It might be a small bit of silverware - but it a trophy nevertheless.

It was certainly a stronger side than I expected, and was one that did credit to the crowd. Whilst most were exprecting between 600-800, 1287 was a fantastic turnout.

The team played some really good passing football (albeit against limited opposition), but the game still had to be won.

If some of those can keep playing with that passion and conviction( Nade, Eribenne, Purcell and Coleman in particular) LD will have to consider tweaking the first team from time to time.

The whole squad looks in good shape for the final third of the seaason, all but Slatter are fully fit, team spirit is clearly high, form is good and we are scoring goals.

At this juncture, I think I would be dissapointed if we do not at least get to one big final or a play off place.

As a Darts fan, I felt we had about 400 in our end (certainly no more). The tickets had run out when I got there at 7.40, but that's not really an issue. We got beaten by the better side; heard the chuck wagon was really awful (not a lot has changed), and agree that segregation wasn't really necessary but these days, the police rule on these occasions. It was good to get the goal early, but I don't think anyone truly believed we were going to go on from that.

Your 7 was excellent - very impressed with him, I presume he's one of the first teamers (were 10 of your side in the squad for Saturday?). Good luck for the rest of the season.

Young Liam Coleman. Regular on the bench. Cannot force his way into the team, although many feel he should start. The same goes with George Purcell, our flying blong winger.

And to put things in perspective, Eribenne has only been on the bench of late and Nade cannot even get there!!

Athough it was a strong team we fielded last night, it certainly could have been stronger, with McCarthy, Long, McPhee, Moore and Akinde not playing.

Agreed, though the play-off place is a tough ask nevertheless. We have to keep Cambridge in sight, but the other three have a fair few points in the bag. That said, many more six-pointers like Saturday and a few wobbles from those above us, and who knows?!

Thanks for the English lesson my Lord.
Now all you need to do is teach some maths so you can count the attendances correctly.lol

Sorry only having a laugh. Enjoyed the game last night, realy impressed with the Fleet. Crowd was good for a KSC game what ever the number was. Back to normal on Saturday I think Northwood said they might bring about 50.

Touche my friend - but surely 200+200 = 800

Liam is usually on the bench.
It was no surprise that the five that sit on the bench on Saturdays all started or that the squad players who don't make the bench got some time on the pitch that is pretty standard for the KSC, the surprise was that we filled the gaps with 1st teamers rather than pase boys as we normally would.
Maybe we do need a trophy this season to keep the MyFC crowd happy.....most of them probably don't realise how little kudos there is in winning the KSC and lets face it a day out in May is a good way to finish the season.
