BTFC and the proposed developments to the south of Billericay.

Billericay Town statement on the recent news stories regarding proposed developments to the south of Billericay

It’s no secret that Billericay Town FC is very keen to establish a footballing academy with a fully functional educational facility on site. This includes all-weather ball courts that could be used by our club and the local community alike, a site that could cater for not only our first team, but also our youth and Ladies sections. Billericay Town Colts have already been given Community Club Status by the FA. Our vision is to make Billericay Town FC not only a footballing entertainment venue, but also a fully functioning centre for our community. If we can achieve this with the help of a sympathetic project such as the one that is being proposed to the south of Billericay then I will give it my full backing.

We have had early stage discussions with the major land owners to the south of Billericay to explore this possibility and during those discussions it became clear that there vision is very synergistic with ours. By working together we can see our ambitious plans start to take further shape. The combined broader overall vision brings us within a wider sporting facility which would also include the existing golf club and a new youth golf academy. All of this together with the teenage respite centre linked with a local hospice should give our local community some unique benefits

Personally sounds decent to me at this embryonic stage. A new ground and in Billericay. My only concern would be that we never move out of NL until any new ground was completely ready to move into. No ground = no hope.

i know it sounds great but i dont't know if we should leave new lodge we could jus make some major improvements to the ground during the summer i.e a bigger main stand along one side of the whole pitch o improve the club shop in fact just improve it all together but the clubhouse is the golden part of the stadium.

That would be incredibly difficult in the short space of time the close seasone gives. Also there is the lack of space behind each goal. We've gone through all this before with Stadia Management and the most viable option is to build a brand new modern ground at another site.

As long as it's in Billericay and we don't spend any time ground sharing it'll be awesome.

Agreed - there's no shame in moving to a new modern ground, as long as it is in Ricay. As someone totally opposed to the old Gloucester Park plan, the fact that it was in Basildon was the major sticking point! We can all have hundreds of great memories of (not so) New Lodge that nobody can take away from us, but its hard to see how we can make serious progress as a club with the issues of parking, access and sheer lack of space for expansion, should we need to improve our ground when promotion is in the offing.

Having said that, I wasn't over impressed with what I saw of Farsley Celtic's Throstle Nest on Setanta last week, looked no better than a half decent Ryman Premier ground. And talking of Conference grounds (!) I drove past Colchester's new stadium today which looks well on the way to completion and is a world away from their poor old Layer Road home I doubt if any U's fans are complaining about moving on !!!

I do not know whose results you look at Blue Hat,

Billericay Town Colts are on the whole far stronger

than Hannakins, Hutton, Perry St and Intersports.

The Colts have many teams in the top divisons of both

The Chelmsford League and The Thundermite League.

They are also doubly represented at Eastern Alliance

Level. I promise you The Colts are doing OK.
