I was 0-6 years old in the 80's, but I'm aware of at least numbers 1 and 5 up the screen a bit.

Not really. I just wouldn't have described his stuff as "Power Ballad".

 

For a really trite 80's Power Ballad, you need shed-loads of 80's synth, atmospheric drums, some more 80's synth alongside layers upon layers on power-chords on your 'axe'. And a touch more synthesiser for good measure.

Er. Right. Not being able to play any instrument without making it sound like a cat being run over means that what you just said, Zeal, doesn't make much sense. I can get by, but can't think of many examples. Apart from 2 of the 5 you just named. How many more do you know?

 

As was said earlier anyway, it's a bit before my 'time.'

I'd never really considered The Lady In Red to be a Power ballad before, but you're right - it has all the right ingredients.. lurve, atmospherics, and loads of 80's synth!

 

And being 1986, it's slap-bang in the middle of the Power Ballad era too.
