I'd be happy with that too Alex but I really think we can nick that play-off place of Hendon because their in terrible form at the moment, something like 5 straight defeats, its important we beat them on the 23rd February.

Come on Margate!

I think for a team that looked to be finishing mid-table to all of a sudden have a great chance of qualifying for a play-off spot is a great achievement. Although we are in good form at the moment we must not get carried away with ourselves because a couple of defeats on the bounce could make it seem impossible again and we don't want a boring end to the season and the players don't either i should imagine.

COME ON GATE!!!!

p.s. this is the most optimistic i have felt all season, please let it continue

What really would annoys me is the group of 30 or so fans I heard at the Carshalton game who called for Trottys head and the players to get off the park instead of encouraging them.

These "supporters" are probably now saying how great we are and will get promotion at a canter.

yep great post , thats the sad thing about footy nowadays no one is given a chance to prove themselves , no matter what team what league if you ain`t doing right your gone . Nobody can transform a team over night .
Trotty = beginner in management and not a bad record so far with some classy signings and some crap ones but he`s learnt from his mistakes and now its paying off and in time i hope he`s still here to say he`s sucsessful and winning trophys & titles with us and not with some other team. Up the Gate.

I think were in for a shout at the play offs,we have hit a bit of form at a good time.the game at southwood is becoming more and more crucial as it gets closer. The game at harrow borough late on could be a telling game as well.Just keep winning thats all we need to do!!

I'm the first to admit that, in the past at least, I have been the first to call for Trotty's head. More so at the end of last season, which I felt was a huge underachievement (we should have easily reached the playoffs). And to a lesser extent, at times this season, I have also doubted his managerial prowess. In particular at Horsham, I game I felt was there for the taking and, with perhaps a manager at the helm who had more experience, a game we would have won. However, I hold my hands up now - Robin is certainly builiding a strong squad, a mix of youth and experience, and fair play to him for that. Although I feel the playoffs may be a bit of a stretch this season, I certainly feel that, with the strong squad he has built, we will reach the playoffs next season.

There, now don't say that supporters such as myself are now 'hiding'.

I agree with you Mike, the performance at end of last season and the lack of defence at the start of the season was poor. the buck stops with Trotty. Looking at the squad he has now and the signings he has made, makes himself look far more capable then I had imagined

But I am one of the fans that wants success and right now. Not only that but I want good looking football.

Fussy bugger aren't I

My thoughts entirely Pagey, which in all honesty good football was non-existant for most of the first half of the season and there was no real strength in depth, which i know wasn't all Trotty's fault because of injurys. Now however things are looking better for us and it looks as if there has been a lot of hard work put into training. Lets hope this carries on.

I'm with Mike and Pagey on this. And in response to Alex's first post, I wouldn't take 6th if it was offered right now. The team has worked themselves into a fantastic looking position to reach the playoffs, and I would not accept any less than that if it were offered right now. Of course, there's still much work to do and if we are unlucky then so be it, but we have every chance now.

Ultimately, 6th would be a disappointment for me. And I fail to see why anyone would want to declare disappointment a satisfactory outcome when we have every chance of achieving something. That's not a winning mentality.

The reason why i would be satisfied is because, it did look as if we were going to finish mid-table and didn't really look as if we had a chance to challenge for the play-offs. I also said at the bottom of the post i would be a lot happier if we go one better, which of course we have a very good chance of doing.

I don't see 6th place as dissapointment at all.

To sum up point i would be satisfied because we managed to turn our season around, but i could be a lot happier. I could see where you were coming from though Porka
