Todays game against Boring Wood

Overall we deserved the win although it wasn't entirely pretty, but a win is a win. First half both sides creating very little with both sides having probably 1 meaningful chance each. Second half the game started to improve and both sides were looking for a win, but i think we wanted it more as we were going forward with real conviction some excelent passing at times. We should have scored earlier on in the game, with Haworth, Pinnock and Martin coming close and when we scored it was pretty much on the cards and deserved.

Defensively we were sound and and dealt with what Boreham Wood chucked at us just after we went 1-0 up quite comfortably.

What had the potential to be a good game was completely ruined by the ref who proved the the words 'awful referee' is used loosely these days, without a doubt the worst referee i have seen in this league.

Anyway that doesn't matter we won 1-0.

(I'm sure someone will offer a better report)

Much to my amazement- it is.

Almost back in our own hands-assuming Staines and Horsham overtake us with all their games in hand,we are 6 points behind hendon-win our game in hand on them;and then best hendon at their place;and its only goal difference between us and Hendon.

With todays results going for us as they did, was it 'Super Saturday'.

The game was a midfield battle throughout. Jay Saunders was given the M-O-T match by the NLP reporter. I don't agree with comments elsewhere about the ref. Her had a pretty good game. Although I didn't understand the booking of Rob Haworth. An FA assessor was in the stand!

Nice to see us above Ramsgate. Let's hope it stays that way. The play-offs are possible.

As already said not a great game BUT what a good ground out result. Could not see us losing this game and a good all round team performance. Prehaps the only person who would have had an orgasm at Boring Wood today would have been MM. The ref decided before the game that Rob could not jump and everytime he did it was a foul. Could not see why he got booked and, how he controlled his anger at him was amazing otherwise the ref would have had a great day in sending him off.

Onwards against Hastings next week.

Spot on Joseba-too far and few these days though.

That sounds like my type of game-thats the professional way you win things.

How many bookings has RH got now-have a feeling he may have amassed about 4 now so close to a short suspension

Just read the report of the game in NLP.

Did we ride our luck a bit?

Paper talks of early chance for BW,then a player rounding SCS and us clearing. Then us making goaline clearance. Then at end of half the linesman waving for BW penalty and ref ignoring it.

BW shot inches wide late in second half.

Makes for nervous reading-so were we quite as in control as suggested or is the report wrong.

Either way-still rooom for plenty of improvement, but great to get 3 ponts if we were not playing great.

Up the 'Gate

Sounds like the report does the classic NLP style of accentuating the positives for the home side. Wonder who the writer supports... When their player rounded SCS he had to take a heavy touch to do so and from that moment he was so far wide that he had barely a hope of scoring, and we comfortably cleared. Was it mentioned that we had perhaps the games best chance, other than the goal, around the 80th minute, when Side broke down the right and his cross hit with pace just evaded Haworth before it ran for Martin at the back post, who just cleared the bar with his effort. Also, another Side break down the right, following good interchange between him, Peters and Macca, saw a low cross just evade the onrushing Haworth at the back post.

Ok, BW did hit the bar when given too much space just inside the area at one point, but that apart I would say our two chances above were better than anything they created.

The "penalty appeal" was a blatant dive which the ref had a great view of, and besides that I'm pretty sure the dive took place just outside the area.

Thought we just deserved it thought heart was in mouth when player went over and linesman flagged. Most refs would bottle it and just go with the linesman so credit to him.

Where was Corbishley yesterday? Would like to have seen him on bench to offer that extra balance.

According to Ken Tomlinson the linesman was flagging to say play-on? And it was outside of the box anyway so it would've been a free-kick not a penalty.
