10,000 didn't bother voting

Recommended Posts

Or the one's who couldnt find the "enter" button, on their keyboard

Thats a bit shocking and e,barrassing for the myfc company.

37% of it's new dream, didnt bother to "get involved" in their first poll.

When the more mundane votes are happenning, on team selection, this number will drop and drop, as they lose more interest....after all, how connected are they really, with just £35 in the pot ?

I can see teams and formations being chosen by just 500 voters, by April...duck

This is what the MYFC had to say about it when I posted the link over there;

Quote:
Hi Coldplayer.

The BBC are dealing with it -It isn't meant to be live until 12. They say it isn't index so it should have not have been found. Also don't take the info on it as sacrosanct just yet.

I am closing the thread because this could turn in to a "Why weren't told first thread" but the numbers in it are just place holder for the real values.

Cal.

The vote does not close until 12 so what he is saying could make sense I suppose.

I'd have expected more to vote, but then again I'd be delighted if this % of UK citizens bothered to take an interest in who was governing them whenever they're given the chance.

Also odd that the news is out before 12, the cut off time clearly stated in the email & pm all members got yesterday. It seems the BBC have indeed cocked up as it is not on our site or MyFC yet.

Did you both just completley miss my post?

"The BBC are dealing with it -It isn't meant to be live until 12. They say it isn't index so it should have not have been found. Also don't take the info on it as sacrosanct just yet."

Its merely a placeholder until they have the official figures, then they will be replaced and the page will actually go live.

Given the fact that about 50% of the notification emails have not been opened to get a figure in the region of 70% is very good. The Web Team have made several attempts to contact people over the past week. It is possible that spam blockers could have had an impact.

It also must be remembered that a large number of people signed-up in the past week. There was another spike yesterday after another email was sent out and sign-ups continue at a rate of about 10 an hour this morning.

Nicely spun, but for a venture based completely around it's interaction a 70% 'turn out' on it's first and most important vote would be humiliating and as has been said above, it wouldn't bode well for membership renewal next year.

Is 10,000 not voting really such a surprise.

Both Man Utd and Arsenal were near the top of the list of clubs that members would like to see Myfc buy for ages, on a budget of £700,000.

Lots of them were only interested in buying their favourite club and now they are buying a club very few people have heard of they are not bothered.

But didn't all the people eligible to vote pay their £35 membership fee AFTER the whole Fleet thing was announced?

No. Over 20,000 had signed up beforehand.

Here is the now official announcement from MyFC re vote:

MyFootballClub members have voted overwhelmingly to purchase a 75% stake in Ebbsfleet United football club.

As of 12.00pm (UK time) on 23 January, MyFootballClub had 27278 members. The results of the two votes at this deadline are as follows:

18100 members voted on whether to approve the deal to takeover Ebbsfleet United FC. Of those that voted, 95.89%, or 17356 members, are in favour.

And 17879 members voted on whether to enable Liam Daish to carry out any plans he has for the January transfer window. Of those that voted, 95.86%, or 17139 members, are in favour.

Which is great, but I imagine these are the die hards. It's the 1000s who never post or get involved or at the moment vote, that need to be reached.

I was also a little worried about the idea of buying people a myfc membership for Xmas etc as a present. Having 25000 odd members with no ties to the club is one thing, but haveing spent time on the forum, most seem to be real football fans. But having hundreds if not thousands of people as members who couldn't care about the project at all worries me some.

Had they paid or just signed up?

Paid up. 50,000 had expressed an interest at that stage.

I think that all those eligible to vote had to be paid up Members. Totally thrilled that those who voted overwhelmingly supported the move - will now be extending my Membership and making my first visit to see The Fleet thrash NCBA this Saturday. Good luck and best wishes to all Gravesend and Northfleet fans, old and new!
