Well, nearly...

Quote:

It is announced that both Forest Green Rovers FC and Crewe Alexandra FC have reached an agreement on the possible transfer of the registration of 21 yr old striker Stuart Fleetwood.

As a consequence of both clubs reaching a financial agreement in respect of such transfer, Crewe Alexandra FC has been given permission to speak to the player in relation to personal terms.

A further release will be issued when Crewe Alexandra FC and the player have met.

In the meantime no further comment will be made by either club, until such discussion has been completed.

Although Charlie Mac was a great goalscorer for us, losing him hasn't affected our league position this year. It just meant that a variety of other players have stepped in and taken goals when previously they may have tried to get the ball to Charlie for him to score. I agree with your sentiment about FGR's league position, though.

Bet he won't sign a new contract in the summer though and the lolly that FGR would have got will go to Fleetwood and his agent instead.

So how much more have FGR's forward thinking board received for Fleetwoods one year contract than our head-in-sand board got for Charlies one year contract?

Maybe FGR, have play off ambitions, they may believe that they will make more money out of keeping him, enabling the club to achieve there ambitions by getting into the play offs, even more so if they went as far as getting promoted.

Who knows, Crewe may just have not offered enough money upfront.

Dunno, it was just one way he could show his thanks to the club for sticking with him. Yeah, I know, footballers & loyalty - I don't know what I was thinking!!

What's the point of going to Crewe, dreadful place, unless trainspotter? Fleetwood knows that there will be a better deal on the table in the summer. However, he and his mother (in particular) have decided that FGR have become part of 'the family'. Fair play to him, for showing a bit of loyalty. About time some player(s) did!!! It's not like he's new to football league teams - has already spent time at Cardiff and Hereford...

As a follower of Cardiff, it would be nice to have some loyalty at our club - rather than signing people like 'Scrounger Fowler'. Picking up his pension much earlier than he should have been (snort, snort). He shouldn't have taken the p**s out of Cardiff, Man City or Leeds ( in reverse order). His glory days in Scouseland are long over.

Forest Green accepted the bid

Fleetwood turned it down
