Madstone 0-1 Billericay

Recommended Posts

One of those "sterling", 10 man, second-half performances that we've all come to know and love!

Billy took his goal very well, and looks like he'll be a good asset.

I think this win meant a lot to the team, as was evidenced by Darrens interaction with the 'ricay supporters after the final whistle! I'd guess it's put them in exactly the right frame of mind for AFCW on Tuesday.

Another "backs against the wall" performance which, I hope will kick start the tail end of the season. Everyone of the remaining 10 players put over 100% of effort in the game.

Curlish though it may be but I would like to name the back five as "my man of the match". Some may say the whole team deserve it and we defend as a team and I won't deny them that but after arial bombardment, after ariel bombardment those defenders mashalled the troops and kept a home side out that were desperate to pay us back for our previous two victories over them!!!

Well done to Billy Bricknall...a well taken goal...Oh hang it...Well done to everyone (including the Blue Army behind the goal).

What a game.

The whole unit did a great job and as mentioned the backs were well up for it.

I was a bit shocked at Shaves conduct and whilst it is a bummer to be down to ten men i was glad to see the back of him. That aside the players went from strength to strength and saw off good Maidstone side.

The Blue army more than made up the 11th man and came up with two new songs in the process.

Welcome to the Blues Billy Bricknall.

PROUD TO BE BLUE

An excellent win for us, especially being down to 10 men for over an hour.

Whilst it was xi vs xi I thought we were far and away the better side. I don't think Shave's challenge was malicious but having seen the video, it's difficult to argue with the referee's decision. I think he'll pick up a four match ban now - A poor situation for us and we need to think how to best resolve it.

I thought bringing on Kerrers and pushing Heffer up was a clever substitution and meant that we could still offer a proper threat up top.

Second half they had more of the ball as you would expect, but chances were still roughly even. Great start for Billy, their goalie didn't exactly cover himself in glory, but if you don't buy a ticket....

MOTM for me was Leon Hunter. I think Leon's not had a great season so far, but every time he gets someone next to him who does more of the holding work, he seems a different player.

It was an excellent result for us and we can go into Tuesday in good heart.

Well done lads

Come on you blues!!!

A sterling performance by our lads yesterday, a second half eleventh man effort was the difference between a one point and a three point game imo, lets keep it going on tuesday.

That was Grant and Jasons EIGHTH away game from a total of Eleven in charge, so to climb us from 2nd bottom to 10th is quite an achievement, even more so when you consider the amount of injury's they have had to contend with.

I was disappointed that the ref allowed the game to be delayed, had the accident been nearer, or later, then a delay would have been the right thing to do, but to put the game back by half an hour for an accident that occured at around 10 in the morning, was miles away on the outskirts of London, and it was just a few players who may have been late, was a mistake imo.

Everyone made before three anyway, but hey, we came away with all three points, and did that with just 10 men.

My first full game for a while, and it felt good to be back,

See you all Tuesday

Oh yeh, Shaves Tackle was a high foot and deserved a Red I thought, but it wasn't malicious or nasty in anyway, just a tad too enthusiastic. We lose him for one game and then he'll be back doing what he does best.

Some Maidstone supporter asked if tht was the worse foul anyone had seen for years...A partisan view for sure but after watching the video of the foul, it looks bad but doesn't look deliberate. At the time, I thought Paul followd through with an elbow but can't see it on the replay...which looks like foot up from Shaves and head down from the Maidstone player and then the connection...The Maidstone player was so injured, he got up quickly enough to have a go at any player in a white shirt...

...We've seen those fouls come away with a yellow before when we've been baying for a red, so no complaints.

Hello bill of shenfield, shave got sent off after about 10 mins in the 1st half, i hate to say this but he deserved to go and i hope while he was watching from the tunnel that he realises whats expected of him in the future, all ten players gave a 110% and stayed on the pitch, and of course us, meaning the blue army, was the 11th man.

A good game for Billericay, I thought we got off to an excellent start, played really good football for the first 20 minutes or so, until Shave was sent of, deservedly so! then a good substitution and great defensive play. Nice debut for Billy, and well done to the ten man team, great effort. More play like that and were on our way to the play-off's.

Grant and Jason's record is looking better and better.

Roll on Tuesday and another win, .....C'mon you Blues!!!

I'm not a great believer in having two managers and think there should be One person making the decisions and taking responsibility, however saying that Jason and Grant seem to have worked out responsibilities between them which hasn't got in the way of making the right decisions, they are working well together and have a good record so far, and as you say, have made some good tactical decisions, as seen on Saturday.

They get my support…. keep up the good work.

I think Grant summed it up in the programme couple of weeks back. He (imo) made it clear that Jason does the training/tactics and selection etc..And Grant is the "arm round shoulder" chap for players etc, using his wise head in situations.

So, in a way you could say that Jason is manager and Grant is no different to eg any other football club in that there is a manager and his assistant. Hope that makes sense ! grin

A high boot Bill, It was deemed dangerous play so its only a single game ban...I think.

Although it is his second red this season so that may come into play and ad a game

A four game ban commencing 2nd Feb., so he's available for Wimbledon & Wealdstone, but not for Swifts, Leyton, Harrow & Boreham Wood.

Agreed - along with Kerrers, Black & Semanshia, we made one very significant second half substitution - "Blue Army for Shave" !
