Commiserations to Harefield United, the last SSMFL club, who were knocked out today by Greenwich Borough.

I know I was coated last year for complaining about the silly ties in this competition, but did anyone notice Poole Town (in Dorset) v. Consett (near Newcastle upon Tyne) - a round trip of 722 miles! And, of course, it was a draw! Meanwhile, jammy Concorde Rangers have had all their ties at home!

Horace - Yes but if truth be known I doubt Consett were complaining too much and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the home side contribute a certain percentage to travelling expenses of the away Club. It's the replay that is going to be a problem for Poole Town but you may find it will be played on a Saturday as opposed to midweek.

you can just imagine the joy in the clubhouse when the
draw was made...and then the apathy that set in when
they realised it was just another local derby

It is next Saturday. Multimap suggests over 7 hours travelling time. don't see how you can do that return trip in a day! To arrive at, say, 1.30pm, you would have to leave at 6.30am, assuming no stops (unrealistic). After the game, in Consett's case after extra time, leave at ,say 6.00pm, home 1.00am if no stops (very unlikely). So, a long day out. I reckon it would be nearer 24 hours out. Surely overnight stay required (or air travel).

Cheers HTFC either home one or long weekend away was the main concensus from the lads after. This season we have been better away from Camp Krooner so not overly fussed.

Teams share travel and accomodation costs, also believe there has to be a certain journey time for overnight accomodation to be allowed and costs shared. In the same way the 2 clubs share the profits of the gate if there is any after expenses.

I bet Poole Town were more annoyed about the draw than Consett were having to meet their travelling expenses and, going by what PB says, they probably milked it for all it's worth by staying in a hotel in town overnight. There will probably be something on another's Forum later on about it.

Would have to share, not meet their expenses. Most of this would come from the gate money that is also split anyway. Wouldnt say staying overnight rather than a 7 hour coach journey was milking it though, just good preparation.

I doubt it - the majority of people who post on there actually know the rules, as do most on here.

That's a bit below the belt as Kentish Town weren't in the FA Vase last season thanks to Football Man and I'm not Secretary this season so how would I know.

Wader - I know what side of the bed you got out of this morning and I note that you haven't commented as yet on 'your friend's' appointment at Cheshunt, you must be excited at the prospect. I was only commenting on Horace's point about Consett travelling to Poole that was all, if members didn't put their tuppence worth in as you put it there wouldn't be a Forum.

And i quote;

" Greewich Borough deservedly booked their place in the last 16 with a last gasp win over Harefield. The Kent League side had leading score Badur MOhammed to thank after he headed in the winner eight minutes into injury time from Chris Hubbard's right-wing corner. Greenwich fell behind against the run of play through Sean Sonner's 27th goal of the season six minutes before half-time. Greenwhich drew level throught Joseph Agoo midway throught the second half before Mohammed's downward header".

Bitch - Thanks for taking the trouble to post this, eight minutes into injury time sounds very rough on Harefield

Last 16 draw today - Truro City v Whitley Bay - 920 mile round trip. How absurd is that?
