I was delighted to go all the way to chalfont and the game be called off by some over zealous officials. The pitch was damp but no surface water and the ball bounced and rolled. It was a Joke.

Tubbsy8 - I'm surprised to hear that, the Referee was Jamie Baxter as far as I'm aware who must have been as annoyed as you having travelled all the way from Mill Hill. I'm sure that at the end of the day all Referee's want to play just as much as we do.

You're right Tubbsy, that late call today was totally unacceptable. Can't really comment on the condition of the pitch as I wasn't there, but seems dubious to say the least. Get the ref to pay for your travelling expenses

same sh!t at hanwell today. Ref turns up at 1.30pm and more os less says the game will go ahead if we do a little work on the pitch. Grounds man works his anus off for the next hour!!!! " assistant refs turn up and basically put a spanner in the works and calls the fecking game off at approx 2.45pm ffs!!! meanwhile, both teams changed and warming up, foods on the go, programmes at the ready and people coming through the gates. Pitch was in a worse state last week and the game got the go ahead!! No game but, a lot of effort and cost!!! Should've started the game and then called a halt to it if THE PITCH WAS DANGEROUS!!!!

The difference for the referee is he still gets his dosh for travelling where as a club pays expenses for travel to get there and have now got to a. play it on a Tuesday and b. pay again for travelling. I am not pointing fingers at Chalfont as I felt, as did they felt it was playable I think the older assistants swayed the referee thoroughly pi$$ed off!

To be fair the pitch we played on at your place last week was worse than the Chalfont pitch, that gives you some indication. Chalfonts chairman was livid too.
