Canvey Island 3-0 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Pretty predictable really - C*nv*y never really had to break sweat. Our preparations for this one were someting of a 'mare with Russell Penn apparently having two wisdom teeth out yesterday and Gary Ansell having to travel back from Ireland, not reaching the ground til about 5 mins before kickoff! Town got off to the worst posible start when Boylan capitalised on a couple of slips to score early doors. We then battled back in to the game and had a decent spell, unfortunatley the ref decided to help out the C*nv*y defense and broke up our best move. We went 2-0 down after about 30nmins following a corner and it was pretty much one way traffic for the rest of the half. 2nd half C*nv*y got an inevitable 3rd goal midway through and could have had more but for some wayward shooting whilst Richard Graham had a couple of half chances. Good to see Gilley gettting back into the action following his injury.

billericay were duly hammered by canvey who with better finishing could have at least doubled their tally. we had one shot on target, 1/2 a penalty shout and no corners.

i hope our watching chairman was cringing as much as the away support at our embarrassing inferiority in this match.

the players for the most part are doing their best, we had a lot of half fit players out there and this was always going to be very difficult for us but you dont help yourself when u gift the opposition a goal after 30 seconds.

the only thing that has matched the collapse of our squad in the last few months is the collapse in our support both home and away. it feels like the soul has been ripped from our club and we need some pioneering close season surgery to put it back.

we have to keep supporting the playing staff especially as they are giving it their best shot in what are clearly trying circumstances

we'll win again..........

Although I appreciate the effort from both Team and Staff, I don't think people want to pay good money and time to watch a team without quality. I was suprised there were not more C*nv*y supporters as they are by far the most entertaining side.

For me Ollie was our MOM (C*nv*y probably had a hard choice for their's). Without him and JJ things would be far worse.

I hope the Snowsill's are not part of our future building for next year. I would have liked to of seen Alexander and Stowe started. Don't know where Jordan was.

Still it was an experience roll on the next game, Saturday.

We really are just being supported by the die-hards now. IN the past people have come from everywhere to watch us play Canvey. Last night, I think there were fewer of us than at Bedford! Players for the most played their hearts out. At least Richard Graham looked awake for this game (he didn't at Bedford), but Canvey were a different class. Really can't see JJ staying with this next year - a real shame.

We now have the poorest form of any team in the division, and mathematically we are not safe! Lets hope our luck changes for Maidenhead (not traditionally a classic) on Saturday.

I should imagine you are now down to the most faithful group of 30/ 40 people the club and most importantly that clubs chairman is ever going to get

Perhaps he will let you in on next seasons plans and give you good reason to go on spending real money supporting your side for what remains of this season

Well done, great support.

Once again another battling performance from the lads who gave everything till the end. As for the support? Well the majority don't seem to give a flying monkeys bollock anymore. Since the FA Cup exit at Havant we have seen a major collapse. Not sure if these people care enough to come back even if we do have success in the future. Sub 200 crowds are the future I think, and if I was budgeting for next season, that's what I'd base it on. Shame really, but the stay-aways have just made the case for moving to Basildon even stronger. Still roll on saturday and a mammoth attendance of 214!

how Park Lane is conference graded is beyond me.

We were poor, sorry to be negative, but to not even get one corner all night says it all. Yes the players are trying hard, but its just not fair on some of them as they are not good enough for this level. Lets hope that there is some serious rethinking going on over the summer by those in charge. If we could have kept maybe 3 of the players we have seen go then we could have had something to build on for next season but JJ, Ollie, Wallo and Penny are the only players that figured for most of this season that are left. We need a complete rebuilding job if its financially possible.

thank god for our early season form.

Your lads put up a good fight last night, but what a shame to see your club in such a mess, over the years you have been one of the top Essex clubs, and a credit to the game and the league but not now, do you think it will be better next year ? good luck to the few diehard supporters you have left.

It's a sad sign of the times when fans of arch rivals like C****y I****d are showing sympathy and understanding for our club's plight. Oh for the happy days in the not so distant past when we exchanged cutting edge banter on this forum when they saw us as a realistic threat to their domination of Essex and Ryman soccer! Appreciate your sentiments chaps, and full respect to our die-hards.

There are some people who go and watch a team because they like to see a winning team. Then, there are those who HAVE to be at every game whether they are at the top or the bottom of the league. At Canvey we are experiencing the same thing, no cup run this year = no big support. You talk about your attendance, what about ours. It was our lowest home crowd of the year against our local rivals - a joke! The sad fact seems that your club needs the entry fees to turn the financial situation around, but the entry fees don't come until the team starts winning, and that means spending money you haven't got. I seriously believe that you could go down next year, as the decent players will leave and the squad you will be left with wobn't be Premier standard.

There are some very straight answers needed to explain how a club such as BTFC can get to this situation. (no chance of realism)

The biggest problem is whether or not premier class players will commit themselves to the club next season

they have to believe that 1) they will get paid throughout the season and that B) they will still be part of a competing team for the entire season

The Canvey infidels tell many lies. They claim a 3-0 victory on tuesday. I can tell you that our brave Billericay men defeated the invaders 5-0 and now the brave Billericay defenders are marching towards the league title. Victory is near, Jihad is on easter monday, we will be victorious.

Rod Moore won't give any straight answers and he will run the Club into the ground rather than pass control to someone else. Bye bye BTFC as we knew and loved it.

Absolutely right, Moore will never let go. Will someone show these notes to Jim Hall. He and he alone made it possible for Moore to take this lovely old Club away from its

members and supporters. George Hackwell must be turning in his grave.
