Windsor vs Maidenhead was the worst game of football I have ever seen in my life. Well done to the Rebels, hearing their result made me come back from the edge of the cliff that I was about to jump off after watching such a pile of trash. Oh and well done Leyton Pennant also. The mighty Magpies slaughtered ANOTHER pi55 poor Division One side without getting out of 1st or 2nd gear, just like when we easily dumped Slough Town out of this worthless cup earlier in the season.

 

The fact that Loser played like a glorified pub team should not detract from an efficient Maidenhead performance.

about tonight.... so pleased we won, I'm sorry I couldn't make it... and you see why we won - Boot and Winston up front !! There's only one Sammy Winston !

Sammy played well tonight and should have earned us two penalties. The first was ruled outside the edge of the box when it was a foot inside. For the second he rounded the keeper who upended him but a hugely incompetent referee gave nothing.

 

Had enough clear cut chances to have scored six or seven but gave them a sniff by letting them get one back.

 

Shame the first goal wasn't on camera. A long through ball cleared everyone and was bouncing back to keeper who completely misjudged his run to catch the ball. It hit a hard spot in the area and bounced straight over his head into the net in front of us. It was difficult to know whether to cheer or laugh <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hi Ashbybrewers,
I'm slap in the middle of the Peak District, and sadly have to work most Saturdays, so this forum is a vital link to the Rebels. Hoping to get the last couple of Saturdays of the season off, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed we've still got something to play for.
Ashby is OK, pub ceilings are a bit low mind as I messed up my hand punching the ceiling of one when Gazza scored v Scotland in '96. The amber shirt I was wearing that day caused quite a bit of interest from the locals.
Nice to know I'm not the only one suffering at a distance.

Slough Town FC is in Buckinghamshire !!!! so we can't be number one in Berkshire !!!!!

 

Anyhow to the real football last night, so so frustrating knowing we should have won by 4 clear goals , not to say Wivenhoe did try their best ! I thought we must have been playing Man Utd last night , 2 penalties for sure turned down!

 

this nearly proved costly as Wivenhoe rallied once they had scored their goal ! but Slough Held on and in fact in the last 10 mins should have scored again to take the pressure off , however 3 points was the object and will see a real 6 pointer saturday, so Rebel supporters be there or be square !!!

 

We need you all to push us back into the race !

Fair play to their keeper as well..... after the huge embarassment of the first goal and the inevitable rollicking we gave him for the rest of the match he made some cracking saves in the second half. Spencer's effort that he got a fingertip to and sent it onto the bar being the highlight.

Despite the fact that we dominated for most of the game our inability to put the result beyond doubt means we just about got out of Dodge. DOm had to make some saves and they hit the woodwork at least once. That said the ref was abysmal, quite how we didn't have a penalty in the first half I don't know. He let two footed challenges go unpunished yet booked Gilkes for asking him to open his eyes. Stupid really.

Sammy worked his socks off and looked dead by the end. Three points that were very hard fought, gives us a sniff of second though we need Hornchurch to slip up twice assuming we win our matches. Its out of our hands but the boys need to show spirit. 18 points on offer, lets get them
