Don't know how you have the nerve Rhodes! Surely Kentish Town is a cert to be off?

Actually I was just wondering the likelihood of Brache Sparta's pitch not being able to cope with the recent wet weather.

It's a shame you think everyone has your intentions.

Wader - That statement takes me back a couple of years or so to when I was down at Coles Park at 6.00am on Saturday's when 'we' were at home frantically sweeping and sanding the pitch. It gave me four solid hours of non stop graft before 10.00am when either Michael Mackey, Dave Raval or Len Wilcock drove through the gates of heaven to inspect the hallowed turf and you could normally play snooker on it by then let alone football.

I would have thought it was tough to play snooker on sand. Anyway no game for Sun as Stony have a County Cup match taking priority. Stony might as well be called off now though as its on a flood plain.

Not after I had finished with it, don't forget I go that extra mile and 'we' very rarely had games called off in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006, I can count them on one hand

Hertingfordbury Park is one of the most flood prone pitches in the area, but not one game was postponed in 2004/5 or 2005/6 as they were unusually dry winters! Things have become rather more wet since then.

Hoddy have had one game called off in 3 years if my memory serves me correct. Having that verti-drainage put in made our pitch resemble a running track for a few seasons but it was worth it in the long run!!

We rarely had games called off when Tring used to play at Miswell Lane through the wet. Only heavy snow or a frozen pitch stopped a game. Natural drainage of 6 inches of topsoil then solid chalk helped (plus the Yeovil style slope!)

So if any of you are struggling for something to do then get down to Lowfield to see Hoddy Reserves take on Sawbo Reserves... with, hopefully, yours truly marshalling the back four!

Just seen the forecast on the tele...rain rain and more rain...its a shame...there were a few working on the hertford pitch for a couple of hours last night only for their good work to be undone by overnight rain and what is due to follow!

FIFA approved 3G astro-turf would be better.

However, logistically, Willo, not only would you have to do without the stadia and the atmosphere that comes with it but a lot of teams don't have the luxury of their own ground, let alone a second pitch/space to have a clay/astro-turf pitch.
