Aboriginal name...Place of many crows.

Pronounced Wogga

 

While there are plenty of crows around and the bird is on the city crest the reference was to tribal elders who would make their way, stooped over so that they looked like crows, on their way to the sandhills next to the Murrumbidgee River which became their burial site.
