Bracknell

I hate being the prophet of doom but looking at the upcoming fixtures, we must prepare for the fact that Bracknell may only be one point behind us at 5pm on Saturday.

Bracknell host Thatcham tomorrow evening, and then travel to Newport on Saturday. Recent form would suggest they have a very good chance of picking up 6 points, whereas we of course host Farnborough on Saturday, and going into it more in hope than expectation of picking up points.

Andover also host Uxbridge tomorrow evening.

In that case you'd hope alot of sides would resign then!

What if that was Sloughs only option? You'd take it with both hands and maybe for alot of other clubs it was the best option aswell

if i remember correctly it was more to do with if there wasnt enough teams to come up i.e because of ground grading/restructuring etc they didnt want to be forced to play in the southern league when they want to play in the wessex league,by resigning they are free in that unlikely event not to be obligated to play in the southern league.

Wimborne to come up from the Wessex. Nice ground, good crowds (averaging 208 in the Wessex), quality team.

Truro from Western League - going FULL TIME next year. Good ground, big crowds ( averaging 434 in the Western), excellent team.

Bouth will improve the league.

Yeah, it'd be alright for Truro as they wouldn't have to work and could get to away games in good time. Imagine a midweek fixture involving someone like Newport IOW and Truro though! John Tebbit wrote about this in one of his programme articles and I think he's right, it could adversely affect a number of clubs.

On their recent visit to us Newport officials confirmed they wouldn't be resigning and were determined to fight for their Southern League survival.

At Andover last week no mention was made with regards to resigning and, with a new manager and 4 new names on the teamsheet, they didn't strike me as a club that just wanted to play out the season.

As far as the Truro situation goes this was always something that was likely to happen with the restructuring and clubs in our division will have to make some serious decisions as recent history of league fixtures show they would have at least 6 midweek home fixtures and even the closest 3 [in Somerset] would face a 3 to 4 hour journey! Ultimately the clubs decide who joins at the AGM as they have to vote on any new clubs coming in but, in this case, I can see the FA forcing the league to accept them even if the clubs vote otherwise.
