Support the team, don't slag it off?

Now is the time in the season, second in the league, a handful of games left, real potential of climbing out of the league, that all supporters young and old should get behind the team whoever the eleven urchins are on the park! Forget jumping onto this forum to dig at the players at this crucial time in the season. I have especially had enough of elements of this forum audience trying to take apart the confidence of some of these players, especially the keeper Woody. In terms of age Paul is still a relatively young keeper who is showing excellent potential as has clearly been seen throughout the season. Yes I was there at the Marlow game when he did,nt have one of his best games, but that is the learning curve that is youth. This was a low period for Hornchurch as well. I did not hear the bleating in the first half of the season when Paul was clearly earning Hornchurch F.C points, single handed at times. Paul is now back in the starting eleven as of last week after having been rested, which I clearly no, has focused him physically and more importantly mentally for the remainder of the season. So should we not focus on giving him and the team our undivided support and not bad feelings. Remember every Hornchurch F.C player reads this forum (whether they admit to it or not) and it is support they need and not a slagging off. Before anyone asks I am not a player, just a humble devoted fan of the club.

The One fan having a dig at Woody, must have been having a belated April Fools Joke with us..... Unless he missed it the score was a fantastic 5-1 to us, not to them! Some people are never happy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ....... Anyway if they do read the forum they will know the majority of the fans are thrilled with the way the team are playing and with the players who come in when unfortunate injuries arise....course we all want Dimitri to get fit quickly but i along with alot of the fans have complete confidence in woodsy while "korky" isn'nt avaialable....

i cant understand why the initial post makes such a fuss about woody, no one has slagged him off, just passed an opinion, same as you two have, my opinion is that i agree with the person who said that woods looked dodgy, he does, are you all blind or what, pauls a nice bloke, so what, we want promotion dont we, ? get kharine back,

OK lets keep this in prospective. This IS a forum with the main subject being Hornchurch F.C. The main attributes to a football club is its players, so if we can't discuss, praise or criticize them, it leaves us little to talk about. No one has come on here and slagged anyone one off without what they think to be a good reason. The bloke who said that Woods looked nervous or whatever he said, is entitled to that opinion. Its not my view, but there we go! I've been thinking for sometime that some people on here jump to the protection of our players a little too quickly. Come on lads, everyone knows football is a game all about opinions, lets allow people to have them, even if we don't agree with them!

 

Anyway, in case it has slipped your attention we are currently 2nd, 3 points clear and are playing tonight, how about talking about that fact, rather than arguing amongst ourselves!

Yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions. My opinion is that Woody looks like he will make for a fantastic keeper for coming seasons. However Dmitri does add an element of class to the side which is a hard act to follow. I mean how can we leave an Olympic Gold medalist out? I beleive that Kharine should be the keeper now but will eventually 'pass the torch' to Woody. After all Kharine will help him develope into a top class keeper.

Well said Lord.....forums are about opinions and if they were all the same life would be somewhat ...shall we say...boring...

 

I don't think that the intention when discussing players is to 'slag' anyone off...its just personal views...bit like the current poll for 'Supporters Player Of The Year'...there will be many many differing views and all of the players will be voted for.....

 

Woodie is a good goalie and his time will come....just my view....having said that...Dimitri is a world class International and I'm sure that woodie himself would admit that he has a long way to go to catch up....no problem there...woodies fortunate to have someone like Dimitri to learn from....all the young keepers are.....bit like having ...say....Ian Wright...train the strikers.....or even me do it....!!!....

 

as for injuries...I am reliably informed that Jonah is in the squad for tonight....and fit...and that a decision on Dimitri has not yet been made......if he's not fit I'm sure that woodie will do a great job for us....

We are not leaving a Gold Medalist out Of The Team he is (or was) injured my argument isn't that Woodie Should play instead of Kharine but that we won 5-1 so was it really that nessecary to critize Woodie after such a great TEAM win

 

Anyway we will have to agree to disagree!
