GRAVESEND MESSENGER

Runs a story on how close the MyFC takeover is to completion...

And Will Brooks states, “It will be completed in time for the January window, we are very close to sealing the deal."

He goes onto say, "But completion by the end of January is not absolutely crucial"

I know the press can sometimes get it wrong - but surely thats just a contradiction?

But then, most of the MyFC idea is still undecided!

Probably means it's all signed off between MyFC and EUFC directors legally but still has to go through our EGM and their voting process. As stated in the the Reporter, I imagine any new players will be financed by short-term directors' loans until the MyFC deal is approved by all interested parties at the end of the month.

To be honest - cant see it being done before end of month now. Directors have to give 21 days notice for their vote/decision. Then the MyFC members have to vote. Thats about 3 and half weeks delay. Only 2 weeks left in month.

(Not sure if the 21 days directors notice is a legally binding thing - am sure they will want this done 'n' dusted asap so as not to finance any deals)

So its very close to completion and will probably be completed before the end of January but if it does run into February it isn't a dealbreaker, exactly what Brian said.

Slarti - we both read the story differently then... Where you see 'probably be completed before the end of Jan', I see 'It will be completed in time for the January window'. One word (probably/will) makes a difference, the difference being mine was the quoted word!! crazy

Not picking on you, Brian or Will - moaning about shoddy sports 'hacks' and the general standard of football journalism.
(sorry - was a topic that started at work, the way the press report certain teams with a negative slant)

Newspapers tend to want to find controversy where none exists. Will Brooks has indicated that MyFC legal team will outline the agreement reached with EUFC early next week and MyFC members will then vote on the deal. I would assume that the EUFC directors will put their process in train at the same time.

I would expect that if Liam Dasih wants to bring in any players then funds will be made available by whatever means are appropriate.

Brian has already intimated that the directors will fund any transfers if the deal doesn't go through in time but that isn't the only problem hanging on the completion of the deal.
Prior to chasing any new signings I would think that Liam would want to get some/most of the current squad signed up for next season, we have some very good youngsters at the moment and I can't see too many of them signing for next season before they are certain of the finances.
We also need to get Liam and Alan committed to next season, which may go some way to convincing the players to sign.

When we receive the funds from MyFC I would like to see some of it used to re-establish the reserve team. If we want the reserves to play competitive football next season, which we should, that probably requires organising now rather than in July.

This has already been flagged as a priority.

If it hasn't been done already - absolutely.

I am sure it will be one of the aspects looked at. Knowing little about it I, personally, would be interested in hearing the pros and cons of such a move.
