Accountability

Have only been reading this forum of late as not much new to say. I would just be a minority still bleating on about the name change and MYFC (and the appaulingness of it all).

Who is accountable?

It seems to me that everyone firmly believes that the club will be safer in terms of money, and no stupid decisions can be made due to a sensible majority in the democracy. Fair enough

But it seems there has been little questioning in terms of the teams performance, and what happens if it doesn't work out.

Im discounting short term cos I've made the assumption MYFC in their greater goodness will now become not fans and so therefore wont be fickle and will give everyone the fair crack they deserve.

That leaves the long term. GNFC win the league: Daish take credit? or 20,000 members get it.

GNFC fall to bottom half of table playing poor football with formations that aren't working: Daish gets sacked? or 20,000 members are held accountable because they are choosing everything?

Can hardly blame Daish now, he is just a coach.

Liam Daish will heavily, and I do mean heavily, influence any decisions.

He will be the conduit of any information regarding players and preferred formations, tactics, etc.

It would be naive in the extreme to think that his input would not dominate the thinking of the MyFC voters.

He also has the job of getting the best out of the players and making in-match decisions.

His 'transparent' reports will give MyFc members an insight into his thinking and his methods.

He will be far more accountable than the run of the mill manager.

If The Fleet do well I'm sure his public pre-match input and his public post-match analysis will be seen as real positives by any future employer should he seek greener pastures.

Should The Fleet languish he would have the option of blaming the MyFC experiment as the cause for the clubs poor performance. From what I've seen and read about him(and from him) I doubt if he would ever take this stance.

Either result would see the MyFC members taking the credit or blame.

The current situation in British(and everywhere else) football is to overcome any shortcomings in a team by spending lots of money(if you have it) or sacking the coach...or both.

Look at Newcastle.

The transparency under the MyFc model could only be good for the club and any manager involved.

The only outcome being if Fleet don't progress quickly - the MyFC members will not take any blame, they will just walk away and not renew - possibly to join another "Own the club, pick the team" scheme - one maybe closer to home, which is maybe doing 'better', or maybe they have closer ties with. There will no doubt be a few of these springing up once the idea is proven.

Sure you're right Patman.

Some will lose interest.

I do have a little more faith in the great majority's 'stickability' in that most would already have an affiliation with a team/club somewhere else and would be well aware that success in sport doesn't come overnight.

Having read the MyFC Forums you get the strong impression that the majority are in for the long haul.

Then again those on the Forums are the minority who are keen enough/committed enough to actually go on the Forums.

Mick - stickability is one thing if you really feel a 'connection' to the club, its less likely if you have to pay £35 and dont feel like you are getting anything in return.

I would agree about the forum users tho - MyFC has in excess of 25,000 paid up members - what kind of percentage of those post regularly?

the details of the agreement between MyFC and EUFC will be published before long (possibly in the next week). After that the need for MyFC to keep confidentiality in relation to membership subscriptions etc. will no longer be necessary. MyFC is obliged to publish accounts like every other 'trust'.

I have seen a site that actually lets you know the traffic.
Could even have been a thread on MYFC Forum!A lot probably wont post until the DD is D&D (couldn't help myself).
Actually I've found the MYFC site to be really slow.
Any other Forum I've used including this one is quick from page to page and on replies.
The MYFC Forum is slow, slow, slow.
Poorly put together as well although it might just be a temporary one until the DD is done and the whole thing gets up and running.
If there is no improvement the multiple voting required for 25000 is going to be tedious.
