CRADLEY TOWN 0 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 2

Just above the relegation zone, Cradley badly needed the points to secure their MFA status for next season, whilst Willenhall needed the points to secure a creditable top 6 place. So, with the sun beating down, one could have expected an exciting and close encounter. However, the first half was about as exciting as a trip to the dentist, with neither side able to extract the final touch.

Both sides were evenly balanced in their build up play, but failed to overcome the final hurdle, and despite the warm sun neither keeper were forced to break into a sweat.

With a stalemate looking on the cards for the interval, Hay raced onto a poor clearance by Cradley keeper Beech, before controlling the loose ball and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

Willenhall came out of the starting blocks looking more lively for the second half, and Vaughan needed to be alert on 58 minutes when Beddows unleashed a low powerful effort which the diving keeper pushed out for a Cradley corner.

Despite taking control of the game the visitors couldn't add to their first half goal, until the 87 minute, when sub Quilt, with his second touch saw his low shot bobble through a static defence and into the back of the Cradley goal.

Willenhall visit Stafford Town on Wednesday night, before entertaining Studley a week on Saturday (19th April)
