Funnily enough, I've got those two Joy Division albums on order. They're my current "must get into this lot"-type band, having exhausted the recent Pink Floyd one!!

Shed 7 have written some of the finest, catchy songs of the last decade - they are one of them bands everyone thinks it's cool to dislike - not me, I like them!

 

Technique however is a class album - One of my rarest records is a copy of Run 2 on 7" DJ Promo, it was only ever released on 12" with not many copys!

Don't get me wrong- I just don't like the 'Sheds'. Not a question of cool, I'm too old to be cool! Also it wasn't cool to like The Wedding Present but I thought they were f***ing excellent.

 

Mind you the first Shed Seven releases such as 'Mark' weren't too bad.

'Mark' is a quality song, as is 'Dolphin' in fact the album 'Change giver' was really rather good, wasn't so keen on the later stuff though. I think Shed 7 were probably the band I saw most in the nineties, they always seemed to be supporting my favourite bands

I quite liked, Shed 7's 'Chasing Rainbows', another bloody song about being a Chesham fan along with 'Let Down' by radiohead and 'If you tolerate this your children will be next' by the manics..

 

Got the new White Stripes album on Saturday, very pleased with it so far. The standout track is 'Seventh Son' a bit of quality blues rock.

 

Currently trialling a couple of albums by The Warlocks, quite rocky and MC Honky, strange name but one of the musicians behind the eels, quirky album but not sure. These were recommendations from my friends at the resocrd shop, I spend too much money on music.

Bald Eagle - Bedford Esquires - what a quality venue, I used to love that place. Do they still have bands these days? I think I saw the Bluetones there once? Am I also right in thinking Oasis played there in their early days?

That's the one thing St.Albans lacks - a decent music venue with proper up and coming bands (Not the Red Hot Chilli Beans like you get at the Horn). I've never been to Bedford Esquires as every band I've wanted to see there was on a Saturday and the last train back is about 2200.

 

I see the wedding present have re-released the hit parade album!

Best venues in London The Astoria, Forum and Scala rate very highly, but I really like the Brixton Academy, shame about the area!
