Not sure we were supposed to win tonight were we ;-)

 

I guess we are popular in Aldershot, and unpopular in Canvey tonight.

 

I thought that we had the better chances tonight, I don't have any recollection of our keeper having to make a save tonight, although you did hit the woodwork in the first half.

 

I must give full praise to Danny Potter for what I reckon has to be save of the season when he tipped a Ricci Crace header round the post at full strength. It was a tremendous save.

 

I have to admit that I felt we were more likely to win as the game went on.

 

If you don't go up, I will certainly be looking forward to our meetings next season. If they are half as good as the 4 games this season, they will be well worth it.

It's been a long time since I felt this way about a match - not just because we lost. The result was fair. More about the way we played. Danny Potter - Brilliant! Steve Ward - excellent. Some of the others - oh dear! Also when a team is playing that badly, with only one decent shot on target and that hit the post, aren't the players on the bench worth a run out? If not why were they there. The only obvious change during the game was to change wingers. The only substitute we used was when Boylen took a knock. This was not just a poor performance by the team, but surely the management must accept some of the blame.

Neither Merv or I could attend the Hendon game last night. So there will be no report from the website team.

 

However Ian did go and should have some details for me to put on the site like a team line-up and the match highlights....

Just hope Hendon can give Aldershot such a hard time. After all, they still have to play them twice. Are you sure you don't want to swap the three points for the Bryco Cup Final!?!? Please consider it, cos we needed them!

 

Must admit, I thought Canvey took no lessons from the way Hendon played the pitch, we continued to try and play "Canvey Football." Sometimes, you just need to hoof it forward and get people behind the ball, something that only one team did on the night.

Thanks for that extremely generous offer, but no, we'll keep the three points thanks. Don't want to be too greedy, we're in one cup final as it is.

 

As for bookings, only one I was aware of was John Kennedy for a late challenge on Ricardo Alves.
