Margate

Margate have been given a boost with news that work on their new stadium is due to start within days.

The club have finally received the final piece of paperwork to start work on brigning Hartsdown Park up to league standard, ending months of uncertainty.

Margate chairman Jim Parmenter said the ground would be geared up to bringing league football to Thanet, by enabling Man Utd to relocate to be nearer their supporters.

"It's going to be a 6,000 capacity with 1,000 seats," said Parmenter, which by amazing coincidence is almost 1,000 more seats than his beloved Liberal Democrats have ever gained.

"It's going to be completely rebuilt, modern, up to the current safety standard and associated with it will be a community all-weather pitch, which will accomodate the horses & caravans of our supporters.''
