SATURDAY 4 MAY AT THE PARK

Saturday 4 May is Cup Final day, so why not come down to the club and watch the game. There will be a BBQ cooking all afternoon, with some drinks promotions as well. The excitement doesn't stop there - the main event is at 6pm on the pitch when Saints Supporters FC take on EFM for the Steve Clark Trophy. After the game there will be a disco in the bar with the awards presentation for both teams. End the season in style by falling out of the clubhouse at 1.00am having had a great day! (Credit to the reserve team 'Cat' for initiating this idea!)

Only negative is that I've heard that the viewing public may be deprived of the privilege of watching Saints Supporters' top stars, sidelined through injury. Can you confirm, Brew?

I can confirm that EFM are in serious training for this match and probably won't even drink too much until the evening (though I'm not overly optimistic about this). We warmed up by winning 9-2 last Sunday (Paul obviously forgot the seven goals that he didn't score - I'm joking, Paul) and are, ahem, more than ready. This is all relative, obviously. We'll just have to try and manage without the boy Jones on the wing.

I'm not going to get involved in any of this bitchiness. To respond to a few of the points made in earlier messages on this thread, I shall say the following: subject to injuries and surprise unavailabilities, we'll be (and I use this phrase advisedly) at "full strength" for the match on May 4th. The boy Jones is in Macclesfield, Bin Fadhel is unavailable due to a City Youth Cup Final the next day, and, should Chelsea win the cup final, the gaffer John Sherwood may well be thoroughly drunk but, other than that, it's all hands on deck.
The team is likely to made up from the following: Wilkins, Haggerty, Chard, Kendell, George, King, Thorns, Ratcliffe, Lawrence, Ashley, Pendred, Cornish, Donnelly, Griffiths, Costello, Turner, Barry & Barker. This is all guesswork - nothing for sure until after Sunday's match against Harpenden Arms.
As for drink... Sherwood knows enough Saints Supporters players to want to win this match - I wouldn't have thought anybody drunk would have been playing, regardless of how drunk he is. Who, BTW, is "the reserve team Cat"? Not me , surely - our goalkeeper this season has more of the sea-lion about him...

Colin you crack me up! Like the EFM stuff, I was only kidding. There are no 'handbags' as R Zimmerman so puts it!

Good Luck EFM!
tongue.gif" border="0

Yes, I am indeed the 'Reserve Team Cat.' It's a term that was coined in the dressing room at half-time by Cookie in the St. Albans City Reserves - Boreham Wood Reserves, and also by Brew, the Roy Of The Rovers Styled Star Striker that ran Keith Dublin ragged in the SACFC Reserves - Farnborough match.
I try.

Oh, I see...
Hope to see you all at the Park on May 4th for the "big" match. It has to be said that the regular EFM goalkeeper might well not be pleased if he's usurped from his regular position, but that sort of decision is really out of my hands (it's not me, by the way). The best thing to do is have a word with the manager - I would have thought that he'll be at the Hitchin match on Saturday. So far as I'm aware, it'll be regular players who get priority treatment. Only fair, I'd have thought.
Obviously, as ever, we're touting for new players for next season, so if anyone is interested, contact us via the EFM website - the link is available from the links page on this site. The latest message that we've received from Costello seems to imply that he's been drinking fairly constantly for the last 24 hours, so he's obviously getting himself well prepared.
