I'm amazed Fordy hasn't got back in to football in a manager's position yet. Welling would seem to be a suitable type of job if he was thinking about it though.

I may be wrong - the old memory isn't what it was - but my re-collection was that the incident you refer to was after a game where Phil had travelled as manager because Andy was at one of his children's weddings or something & the bust up was with one of the directors not AF. Seem to remember it was doubly odd because we had had a good result - possibly the FA Cup win at Chester when Skins scored the only goal from the spot.

I think you will find that it was the away match at Hereford when we drew 3-3.

Andy was away for his 25th Wedding Anniversiary and Phil was upset about the amount of time the Directors took to get back to the coach after a stop.

It was after that that all non playing staff were banned from the team coach.

Oddly enough I was chatting to Andy yesterday. He doesn't seem to be in any hurry to go back to management.

And you a year or so older than me, Mr H, but with a more reliable memory - yes, you are spot on. I had been dragged to Lullingstone Villa by the Bad Wife that day & was surreptitiously keeping up to date via texts - a real rollercoaster, I seem to rememember - didn't we race into a 2-0 lead? Mr Haworth involved? Probably wrong again, but I definitely remember celebrating with a few pints of very fine Harvey's in a pub in Eynsford afterwards. Maybe it's that habit that's done the brain cells in.

It shows you how things get more professional as time goes by. A few years back I remember an incensed John Jackson telling me that when Jacko had been injured at an away game he was told to move by one of the directors as he was lying in the area where they were storing the beer for the journey home! Can you imagine Mr Daish putting up with that now?!?!?!

It was a story confirmed by are old physio Martin who wasn't happy about it and left at the end of the season.!
