Jacko's selection for the England semi-pro team v Holland was a fantastic achievement for the man and a fitting tribute to his one club loyalty and dedication to the Fleet. It also demonstrates the esteem with which Fleet are held in non -league circles. He deserves nothing less than a standing ovation on 5th April v Chester.

However, as a more long lasting testament, why not introduce a Hall of Fame, for anyone connected with the club (player/manager) who has made VERY significant contribution to the sucess of the Club, or who has brought about favourable public recognition.

My initial selection would be (including reasons) ;

1.Tony Sitford (FA Cup goal scoring, long service and taking the Fleet to 5th in the Alliance in 1980).

2. Garry Aldous (For long and loyal service and for buiding the team that played at Villa).

3. Lee Smelt (Long Service , rewarded for his ability by playing in Premier football , Forest v Spurs)

4. Kenny Burrett (record appearances + the best ever defender ?)

5. Jimmy Jackson (Fantastic one club player, long service and International recognition)

6. Steve Portway (Quite simply the best striker the Fleet have ever had and brought a lot of good publicity to the Club)

No doubt people have other ideas ??

I would like to add Andy Ford, but would agree that if he keeps us up this year and we go on to better things, that would be a better time to add him to the list? Discuss.......
