Its an interesting debate about "lazy" strikers. As you move up the pyramid in football, we all know that the quality is better but the style of football changes. Football league you get alot more time on the ball at the back because strikers always defend behind the ball. They dont need to run 30 yard doggies to close players down, this is done in the final third. Some of the greatest strikers are the laziest !...Gary Lineker, Ian Rush, DANNY HOCKTON !!!!

I was not at the game that Danny Hockton got given verbal buy some surporters , i think it was Slough if im not mistaken but even Danny who played 65 games and scored a stunning 56 goals had alot of abuse thrown at him towards the end of his time with us . Makes you wonder if things weren`t hurled in there faces they might have stayed and we could have seen there true playing ability and stuck around a bit longer , but this is what footy is about , what the player wants to do and what a fan wants is sometimes a million miles apart . Up the Gate.

Surely you're forgetting that he played most of his games & scored most of his goals in a season where we were relegated from Conference South (he played most games that season, often carrying a knock or injury because we had sparse replacements available).
His understanding with Che meant that he created as many for Che as he scored himself. Also this was a season when the players were playing weeks on end before they'd got paid.
Those circumstances make him a valuable contributor to Margate's recent history.
Got it in one mate.

Yes i followed the gate to Ashford and yes i gave Rocky a lot of stick and i dont regret it at all.

One FA cup goal! Big deal! That doesnt make a good player.

Not only was he lazy he wasnt a team player and i dont think there was anywhere near enough "fire in his belly" or passion for Margate.

I wish him well and scoring a goal in the Cup must have been great for him. But would i have him back at Margate........... NEVER!

His game did take a dip at Ashford though but so did alot of others as well but if you are not being paid on time why should you bother . Up the Gate .

He (and some of the others) should have bothered because the adoring fans chanting 'Rocky, Rocky, Rocky!' had travelled a long way and paid good money to watch him (and the others)play like they cared!
