Yeah he did get some awful abuse at times, but i think his more then proved them wrong .

Akpo Sodje, Sam Sodje, Rocky, Jake Leberl. Icould go on. The number of quality players who've been allowed to leave Margate in recent times is awful.

A great goal yesterday and he scored some great goals for us but i'm affraid I found him frustratingly lazy. I'd rather a hard working striker any day.

Good question! I guess I like a hard working striker but I cannot fault Danny Hockton. As we all know he scored alot of goals for us. I couldn't fault Jake Leberl or Sam. Sam IMO was the best centre half I have seen at MFC. Certainly the best header of a ball. Of course Dixon, Edwards and Porter would have to scrap it out between them for second place as they were Margate greats too. To answer your question MM i'm affraid its Rocky.

At the end of the day they are all quality players who have all proved people wrong and gone on to much better things than alot of us could imagine . Sam got to be the one that stands out and Akpo at my other club Sheffield Wednesday following in the footsteps of people like David Hirst , Di Canio , how much would this squad cost to assemble now , i bet it would be one of the most expensive in non-league if they were to all come back to the Gate now . Up the Gate .

Sorry mate, I watched him many times for Margate. He was not a team player and couldn't be arsed to make the effort. Thought we weren't good enough for him.

The fact that he has since proved he can do it when he tries just makes it all the more annoying.

Hockton 65 appearances, 56 goals; Baptiste 65 appearances, 19 goals. I know which I would rather have in the team.

Rocky's solo effort at Basingstoke was one of the best goals I've ever seen. He gives the impression of being lazy but so did Hockton and a bloke called Berbatov.

Surely you're forgetting that he played most of his games & scored most of his goals in a season where we were relegated from Conference South (he played most games that season, often carrying a knock or injury because we had sparse replacements available).
His understanding with Che meant that he created as many for Che as he scored himself. Also this was a season when the players were playing weeks on end before they'd got paid.
Those circumstances make him a valuable contributor to Margate's recent history.

remember when he 1st came to the club , he was a revilation for us in those 1st few games at Dover and i can`t remember anyone`s name being shouted so loud by the fans everytime he scored a goal Rocky Rocky Rocky from everywhere . His game did take a dip at Ashford though but so did alot of others as well but if you are not being paid on time why should you bother . Up the Gate .
