STEP FIVE

Promotion (12)

Northern, North West Counties, Northern Counties East, Midland Alliance, United Counties, Eastern Counties, Essex Senior, Kent, Sussex, Combined Counties, Spartan South Midlands, Hellenic, Wessex, Western

(14 leagues currently. Possible adjustment to a total of 12 in the future)

Promotion from Step 5

It is being proposed that the following will operate at the end of season 2007/08. Yet to be confirmed by the FA.

* 4 from the top 6 will be promoted from the Northern League.

* The top 2 from the Midland Football Alliance will be promoted.

* 9 further clubs from the other 12 step 5 leagues as detailed in the rules below.

* Always assuming that the eligible clubs have applied and meet the ground grading requirements.

Original rules for promotion from Step 5 as published by the FA

Each of the step 5 leagues will nominate the club finishing in 1st position subject to meeting the entry criteria and wishing to be considered for promotion. In the event of the 1st placed club not being nominated, the club finishing in 2nd position can be nominated subject to the same criteria. Both the clubs relegated from Step 4 and the clubs to be promoted from Step 5 will be placed in a feeder pool and allocated to the most geographically appropriate league.

In the event that there are more clubs qualifying for promotion than spaces available, priority will be given to the Champion clubs in Step 5 leagues. If there remains vacancies, clubs finishing in 2nd place in Step 5 leagues will be ranked according to the average number of points gained per games played.

Clubs seeking promotion from Step 5 to Step 4 must make application in writing to The Football Association, copied to their existing league, by 31st December in the relevant year. The application must be accompanied by the agreed grading fee, as determined by the LC, which is non refundable. The Football Association will arrange for ground grading visits to take place before 31st March in the relevant year. A final list of clubs eligible to be considered for promotion will be published by 15th April.

That's how it stands at the moment but there are some leagues where the applicants are not in the top 2 positions and the Northern League has only 3 applicants instead of four promoted(subjected to passing grading criteria).

ok coach so its 9 from 12 the fact is that if enfield win the ESL as they most certainly will do the chances are they will be passed over in favour of other applicants as they groundshare and the most 'moneybags' concord can hope for is 2nd place which will only suffice if half of the champions of the step 5 leagues have not applied for promotion which aint going to happen.concord- YOUR F"CKED!!

I wouldn't be so sure Richard...you know my sixy sense grin tells me that they can still win it,especially after the Christmas kicks in the backside. They must have come under a lot of criticism that the only way out is to stick together and start doing the talk on the pitch(shutting that fat [****!!****] up alk). They will bounce back and are capable of going on a very good league run.My money is still on them to win it altough Barkingside are very consistent and underrated. What they say?You see the real teams at spring time...

its a case of mathematics, enfield are at the half way stage of their league season and have dropped only 6 points, if concord win their match in hand they are still 8 points behind.therefore if enfield are as successful in the second half of the season as they have been in the first concord can win all their last 17 matches and will still finish 2 points behind.

pl w d l

Enfield 16 13 3 0 42

Concord 16 11 1 4 34

Assuming Concord win their game in hand, they will be only 8 points behind Enfield. The two games against each other will be important, the same as games against the likes of Romford, bowers, southend manor, and the away fixtures at Barkingside, that are more than in contention. It doesn't work like that Richard..football is a beautiful funny old game and the script hasn't been read yet.. wink

what would coachie know about top of table maths?
as long as the ESL keep letting sh1t like msp & asbo in the
league then the social club should stay off the bottom and
the self-opinionated eyetie can tell everyone what a great
manager he is
the above mentioned clubs arent even fit for the borough comb and
should be moved to a sunday morning league
good lasagna or no ground shouldnt be a criteria for ESL membership but if......
a good menu or a ground share is all thats needed then an
approach to a club and food from my local chinese and bingo
another new team for next season
and coachie wonders why bbc essex have more time for the
ridgeons league
