I thought you might be interested to know we've signed one of your former players, Greg Oates, this morning. Would I be right in saying he performed quite well when he was with you? I noticed he's in one of your fans' all-time XIs.

Greg served us brilliantly for five years and stayed put through hard times. When he first came here he was fantastic. Called into the England Non-League side a couple of occasions during our Conference days, though I don't think he ever played due to having to pull out both times I think. Then he had more injury problems and since his return for the last year or two although we saw plenty of committment and some good games he seemed to have lost a bit of pace. General feeling back in the summer was that we could do better, and Greg was released, although it has since proved that we'd have been better off keeping him as his replacement Stuart Harte had work committments after a couple of months at the club. Model pro, and I wish him personal success even if I don't like CCFC.

Greg was a nice lad to chat with , always prepared to stop and talk and he deserves at least one more crack at this level , became abit injury prone in last couple of yrs here but he always gave his all and could have done something for us this season even if he played only 45 mins . good luck to a loyal servent who wore the Gate shirt with pride , Up the Gate.

it always worries me when ex-margate players join a club that are in the same league as us. i just feel that there going to come back and bite us on the harris

It happens the other way round too gumps! looking at some old programmes from last season, had the Carshalton one with a certain Rob Haworth playing for our opponents that day! (We lost 1-2 btw - can't remember if Rob scored!)
