SLB v Kentish Town - 5 Jan 08

Sour Grapes has got nothing to do with it as the complaint was made before the game. The format is interesting but when teams are allowed to break the rules and not receive the appropriate punishment, it turns into a Mickey Mouse park football tournament that loses all credibility.

Two day tournament in Regents Park ... 22 players register on the first day ... they have wrist tags put on the players wrists as proof of registration i.e. that player plays for the two days and no one takes his place and the tags must remain on until the tournament ends. This is to prevent having 44 players taking part over the course of the two days.

Second day of the tournament Colombia's players have no tags on their wrists. Rules clearly state disqualification should take place. Portugal complain. We are told a decision will be made but in the meantime are told to play or forfeit the game!

Tournament director asks me "What do you expect me to do? Disqualify them?" I ask him what do the rules say. Hello!

They then play Russia and Russia complain and still nothing is done. The ironic thing is they reached the final and played against Bulgaria and they lost. Bulgaria also didn't have their tags either. Which meant that they were cheated by their own methods.

Interesting to see some players with them on in the winners photo. Did the tournament founder give them a second batch?

Bitch - Don't take any notice, it's the usual bad sportsmanship by Sport London e Benfica who simply can't accept it when they are beaten fair and square, or in this case Portugal, what other Club would accuse the opposition of hiding match balls in their dug out to waste time. This is a pic of Javier Rivera embarassingly sending the keeper the wrong way from the spot in the high profile Inner City World Cup final last year, Javier is a former Colombian Youth International and has played in the Argentinian first division against the likes of Boca Juniors and River Plate:

Hector assured me that nothing untoward went on and I believe him as he seems to be an honourable and likeable guy. Anyway I'm sure you had no complaints when Christiano Ronaldo got Wayne Rooney sent off in Germany in 2006 and gave his little wink, it seems that if a decision goes against you it's crime of the century but if it goes in your favour then it's perfectly fine.

Special one. The answer to your question you have answered yourself. There is corruption everywhere, unfortunately.

Look at Rhodesy's post in answer to yours following mine. Surely you can see the jest in it?

If not, please explain how the match balls found thier way into the dugout biglaugh

Believe me Special 1 i'm not taking the pee. Sometimes posts have to be reread before answering smile

It wasn't so much the wink but the evil look and clip that really disgusted me frown

But, i'm not talking about a nation, i refer to a silly young man that i now hope has learnt his lesson. I really did not think he'd ever be able to play in this country again. I don't want to go over the top, but, it seems to our shame like we'd allow a mass murderer or rapist play, as long as he did our national league proud.

Where's the 'spitting' smiley? sick

special 1 youre tying yourself in knots, the incident happened in 2006 you said, then you wonder why tags are on the players in a subsequent tournament that they won.

if the tournament organisers felt no need to punish any side for players not wearing tags let it go. teams went back the following year so it cant be too bad eh.

anyway what are you suggesting happened, they played 44 different columbians over the two days? must have had a top coach to remind them of their roles and a better coach to get them back to heathrow!

Bitchy, we all felt anger at the time for what Ronaldo did. However, he took it on the chin when he came back to this country and despite the boo boys (and gals) not only got over it, but went on to become a better player. My choice for International player of the year and a travesty he didn't get it. A great player without any doubt and all that despite the greasy hair cool3

My argument Wader, is not that 'he took it on the chin' but that he was allowed back into the country anyway! He disgusted me. It makes me sick that any crime can be forgiven as long as they are good at football.

I applaud his footballing skills. But, i dont and did not applaud his unsportmanship that the Special 1 also refers to. It's the sense of 'justice' that will always feck us off, cos life just aint fair.

I'm all for him plying his trade in his own county, but i don't want him here. I want an English league to reflect an English league. I want to adore players skills from all over the world. Every country has something to offer. I love to watch the World Cup to see the talent on offer.
