As far as I'm aware Special1 is married, he's in his late 30's I believe and he looks the settling down type albeit without any children around his ankles to get in the way of his football.

In some ways I admire Special1 for his dedication, when we were at Reynolds Field recently he appeared to be a one man band at the Club, for example before the game he was meeting and greeting and handing out programmes, then as soon as the game had finished he was in the Club house pressing the flesh, arranging the food and wiping his players noses. On the other side of the coin however he seems to have a dark side to him which has come to light over our recent Inner City World Cup discussions and he will seemingly stop at nothing to reach his goal.

perhaps with all that effort and dedication he believes he cant fail, and recent success would reinforce that view.

 

he's got to learn to accept defeat and learn from it, i wonder if he had a big brother who always cheated and won. Is that was where eagles came from?

I think it probably just stems from his latin roots and temperament that's all, whereas us Brits are cool calm and collected at all times and the stiff upper lip brigade they show their feelings more and come across as more passionate and forceful although in practice that approach is far less effective.

Eagles, when in London, stays round my house sometimes. He used to work for me and supplies the occasional pictures for my magazine.

 

He would have been at the SLB v Kentish Town game, if he didn't have to cover the Man.Utd game.

you have to go back to the tennis match between the Rhodesian ambassador Mr Cecil and the Portuguese ambassador Lord Eagles.

 

Mr Cecil had won in straight sets, but Lord eagles felt that the wind changed everytime they changed ends, the balls he served with took to long to be given to him and his chair wasnt ready at the changeround. The sun was in his eyes permanently but the clouds came out when mrCecil faced the sun.

 

Lord Eagles felt these were the only reasons for his defeat, and was rather boorish about it over the cucumber sandwiches that afternoon.

Ah yes the finalword, Lord eagles did always seek that, and if he could not find le bon mot he would bang his hand on the table and chortle into the sherry, a habit that even lord and lady hertford found distasteful, and some form of moderation was suggested.The answer came when Inspector wader and his young assistant Booby Lavar called to investigate the theft and mutilation of some post. What they found in the mailroom led them to question the Portuguese ambassadors credentials,and the origin of some of his missives was investigated.

LordEagles of course was wise enough to see that the dinner party guests were turning against him, and he laughed it away as all being a bit of a joke that of course he didnt really believe MrCecil had any power over the wind and clouds although he did hold high office at the Rhodesian Embassy.

 

LordEagles also had to admit to Booby that he hadntspent the last fortnight in Macau and Khatmandu,that he had in fact been at the Bull hotel in Stratford looking at his next tennis opponent. "I knew that" said Booby,I saw your carrier pigeon leaving the window last week from that very establishment.
