So one of the main reasons you didnt take on the Columbian coach was because of a perceived disregard for rules at the inner city world cup?

I read your excellent website that says with a backroom staff you would be dangerous.

You are correct in your elementary deduction Watson, I mean, Spursfan.
Still no backroom staff, so still not dangerous.

Sounds like more excuses....

Still now it's the new year we can look forward to the promised SLeB push to the top of the table!

As Rhodes said " it's the usual bad sportsmanship by Sport London e Benfica who simply can't accept it when they are beaten fair and square, or in this case Portugal "

I have just spoken to "CupGroup Celebrity & Sporting Events" in charge of the Inner City World Cup, I found the information about this company on the web as Rhodes has been to slow to provide his coach number.

The facts are:

- Teams are representing their own country in this prestigious tournament, therefore it is against the rules to use players of different nationalities.

- The Portuguese team was comprised of 20 African players, mainly from their own colonies in Africa which wasn't acceptable according to the rules of the tournament.

-The portuguese team should have been disqualified before the tournament started as 90% of their players were Africans.

-The organisers allowed them to take part in the tournament as a sign of respect to their hundreds of supporters.

The Inner City World Cup is shown in 74 countries on the Community Channel.

The tournament is played in London, New York and Liverpool, in 2008 will be taken to Birmingham.

The company is also in charge of the summer soccer six football tournaments on the national tv, Netball 7s, The musos and Cricket world cup at Regent's Park in the summer.

in 2007 a new portuguese team was invited to the tournament as the sporting relationship with the previous group was not good.

an Angolan team comprised of African players currently playing for SLB have requested an application form for the 2008 tournament.

==========================================================

Special1,

Where did you get those Portuguese ID cards for 20 players?

Do you run the Portuguese Commonwealth office in west london ?

TheSpursFan - Eagles1981 was Special1 all long, they're the same person, haven't you realised.
As for this latest debate on the Inner City World Cup, Smithcharles42 has just summed it all up perfectly in his excellent post, Portugal should have definitely been disqualified for fielding virtually a whole team who were not Portuguese Nationals.

Special1 is a very clever individual and shouldn't be underestimated, he comes across as a lovely guy when you meet him face to face and obviously loves his football but I think he has a devious streak and lets himself down in a number of areas

Careful Smithy. You could spark a race row. Next you'll be saying all the black players playing for England aren't English?

In that same penalty tournament wink we had a brother of a black ex-England player who was refereeing our game, bantering one of my players that he wasn't portuguese because he was black.

Can I also remind you that one of the world class players to wear the Portugal shirt was the great Eusébio. Need I say more?

Do you need me to list out players who have more recently played for Portugal?

The facts were funny but not worthy of an answer. Sorry.

In 2007 a new portuguese team was invited to the tournament as the sporting relationship with the previous group was not good.
Funny, because I received an email like all the other team managers. The tournament is so well organised that originally it was advertised as the 2nd and 3rd of June.

an Angolan team comprised of African players currently playing for SLB have requested an application form for the 2008 tournament. We have only one player, I think, from Angola playing at SLB at the moment and he has a long-term injury. But if there is a team, can I advise them to ignore the rules at the tournament because they are just for show?

Not certain of CharlesSmudger. And I'm not certain he (or she) would support England in an International football tournament if you get what I mean. Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps Charlie boy will reveal all and perhaps scones are indeed pronounced scones?

I know rhodes had eagles down as posting from the greasy spoon and I had the vision of twenty odd waiters/leftbacks standing round a monitor.

was the professor of football really posing as an international jetsetter to chatup the girls on here late into the night?
