I think the problem there is that the reserve team management team are now in temporary charge of the first team. Quite a few of the first team have left so, naturally, the better reserves are now playing in the first team!

Hordes - You are beginning to sound like Football Man, having to refer to me in every post you make. Unfortunately it's too late for you to be included in the 'Gayer of the Year' category in the Forum Awards nominations but there's always next year

So looking at the challenging sides next batch of fixtures in Div 1... I think Hoddy 'should' get themselves in a strong position for the run in come March and April! They have none of the top 8 who will all be playing each other.

Hoddesdon Town Brache Sparta Saturday, 12 January 2008

Harpenden Town Hoddesdon Town Saturday, 19 January 2008

Cheshunt Reserves Hoddesdon Town Saturday, 26 January 2008

Hoddesdon Town Ampthill Town Saturday, 02 February 2008

Hoddesdon Town Cranfield United Saturday, 09 February 2008

Hoddesdon Town Buckingham Athletic Saturday, 23 February 2008

Stony have Kentish Town and Royston in their next batch.

Haringey have New Bradwell and Bedford

Kentish have Bedford and Stony

New Bradwell have Haringey and Royston

SLeB have Bedford and Royston

Bedford have the hardest set with Royston, Kentish, Haringey and SLeB

Royston have SLeB, New Bradwell and Stony

I would have thought they would have done quite well, years ago the Southern League was seen as a step up from the Welsh league so it would be interesting to see how the relative strengths are nowadays.

I know that UEFA wanted all the non league welsh teams playing in England to move to the Welsh league a few seasons ago, I don't know if this is still the case, but the likes of Merthyr and Newport wanted to stay in England.

I think NeutralFan is in for a rude awakening if he thinks Hoddesdon are going to have a field day in their next eight league fixtures, my predictions are next to the games:

Jonno - He should know full well that playing teams like Harpenden Town can always be potential banana skins and you're actually much better off playing your Stony Stratford's, Haringey's and Bedford's every week

That's complete nonsense, as usual. The lower teams are in that place in the table because they generally lose, not because they are difficult opponents!

Horace - I don't agree with that statement at all and I'm sure neither do the likes of Roger and Jane in the corridors of power at Lowfield. How would you account for lowly Harpenden Town going there and winning as well as to Haringey Borough and Amersham Town winning at Stony Stratford.

How do you account for Ruislip Manor beating Hertford Town? There will always be the odd games that buck the trend, but the trend nevertheless is for better teams to defeat poorer teams, isn't that obvious?

Which is why I said 'should'!

I was just indicating that the opportunity is there to get us in prime position for the run in.

Thanks for removing the boobs - they were embarrassing when my 9 year old son looked over my shoulder when viewing the forum!

Yes, same here and also in internet cafes and libraries, it gives the impression you are viewing a porn site and a 'Moderator' should know better which is why I don't think NeutralFan is the most suitable for the position.
