Thatcham thread

The 2-1 scoreline perhaps flattered us,as we were beaten by a team who were both clearly up for it more, and were better organised than us. Harper and Charles both performed well, but too many of the others (after a good 15 minute opening spell) did little all game, and our defense went walkabout too often.

All in all another poor performance with too little effort and commitment.

Couple of things from today:

1) When we go behind or chase a game we don't seem to have a 'Plan B'. It just seems a straight swap Enrico for Jermaine and hope for the best

2) I was amazed, and I hope it's just that it's because he is not fully fit that Danny Jefferys did not come into the position Rhys Price played today at all. I thought we were crying out for him on the pitch. I thought he could have done some damage playing in the hole.

3) Charles who had a decent game imo and Gumbs do too much of their good work on the wings and don't get into the box enough, which is why we are not scoring. We desperately need a goalscorer.

Agree with those comments. Charles, Gumms and Harper had good games. I can only assume DJ was making up numbers on the bench, did not notice him do much of a warm up routine.

The goals were largely due to sloppiness at the back which is obviously a familiar story....

Firstly, nothing to do with the game but:

1) Why no team announcements?

2) Some of the pages in the programme have been repeated, with no changes, for a number of weeks now and the players kit sponsorship section still has Metcalf's photo and no photos of any of the new players.

Now the game:

First half:

Good opening spell where we looked lively, had plenty of shots and with more accurate shooting could have bagged a couple of goals. As the first half wore on our midfield became more and more ragged and Thatcham became more dangerous on the break and should have scored a couple themselves.

In the second half some comical defending was again to be our undoing. For the first goal Abby Nsubuga lost the ball in midfield closely followed by some poor defending at the near post by Steve Daly resulting in Thatchams first goal.

For their second goal the ball was allowed to be crossed in from the left but with only one Thatcham forward and two Slough defenders in the middle there seemed little danger until Harper and Rendell both failed to mark the one forward and a free header ensued.

Another game where we should have came away with at least a point and end up with nothing.

My MoM was Dean Harper.

I'll answer point 2 for you Reading Rebel:

There are some pages (Juniors & Ladies) that haven't been updated for a couple of programmes for which I apologise but I've been awaiting new content which I've chased up and will do again this week and will make sure it's done for the next programme v Farnborough.

I was awaiting new player pics which have been supplied but because of the Christmas print deadlines the Thatcham programme was in fact printed on December 21st, so again these will be updated for the Farnborough programme.

where was Lee Riddel??

tbh when we have Moleski and Jefferies back fully fit we will have a very good midfield to go with the Nsubugas and Riddel

such a shame Robbo's confidence seems so low right now

i thought this was much more promising attacking wise at least than a lot of games recently

lets face it Thatcham arent that good just better organised. a point would have been fair

our best chance for a 2nd was Gumbs header that their Bradley Branning keeper saved very well although the ball did stick a bit in the mud as it bounced up

at least 1 win in the next 2 is so so vital now

I was under the impression that Barrat wasnt fully fit after a groin injury, although I did also hear there has been "offers" for the Player so maybe he has left. Could anyone clear it up? If He has left it would be a Massive loss to the squad as He and Maybe Jeffries are the only Players We have got which can change games in an instant. Wonder why Jeffries didnt come one New Years Day. Think with the Club in the posistion were in We need our Best Players which both Barrat and Jeffries are. Up the rebels.

also Attrell he was at the game but not on the bench surely if DJ isnt fit enough to come on then Attrell should have been on the bench if he is fit enough. Tom has not been on of the bench as sub for months has he?

Donell Allen was at the game too i guess he was injured. picked up a knock on his debut and looked to be struggling again game after
