Just as a matter of interest... is it really necessary to segregate the fans?
Is it automatic?
Do Ebbsfleet have segregation at every game? (Not counting MYFC and the locals :))
Does it happen at all levels?
How do the police arrive at these decisions?
Is the segregation self perpetuating in that it uses physical division of fans which probably reinforces animosity?
How long ago was it that fan segregation was not needed?

This really is a foreign concept to me in that I can go to a Collingwood v Richmond AFL (Aussie Rules) game with 95000 others and not see a fight.
They are traditional rivals and yet they wear their Black & White(Collingwood) and Black & Gold(Richmond), sing their team songs, mix in the pubs around the Melbourne Cricket Ground, sit near each other at the ground and mix in the pubs after the game without reportable incidents.
The only real enemy is the umpires(refs).

As far as Football in Oz is concerned there were problems when the comps were based on sides from different ethnic groups. The A-League has had a deliberate policy of avoiding ethnic connections when awarding franchises for the newly formed (3 seasons)competition. So far so good.

Probably not in most cases but I wouldn't put it past some inadequate pea-brained local yokels to see a derby against Dartford as an excuse to enforce some 'local pride'. Maybe the police are basing their decision on this as I doubt they'd bother segregating a KSC game otherwise.

Well I have not posted for a while on here, and sadly I have not got the chance to see the Fleet this year. As for this issue, get this one, Charlton have had there home game with Crytal Palace on a few weeks moved to the Friday night, due to police advice. Are we becoming a police state??????

Up the Fleet, and I aim to be there on Saturday or the following week, with a fair wind and the wife's blessing!!!!

You'll lose it as well, Palace are in excellent form, unbeaten in 15 and are the in-form team, not only in the League but in the country. **Tries to get tickets**

Might not have to worry about segregation after all.

From today's Kent News.com

POLICE MARCH IN CAPITAL TO PROTEST ON PAY DEAL

An estimated 18,500 police officers have attended a march and rally in central London to protest about pay.

Officers are furious with the Home Secretary for refusing to back date an independently agreed pay deal to September, effectively reducing the 2.5 per cent pay rise to just 1.9 per cent.

As part of the process, Kent Police Chief Inspector Jan Berry, chairman of the Police Federation, handed in a petition to 10 Downing Street and was due to meet with Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

Ch Insp Berry has previously called for the Home Secretary to resign over the row, saying officers did not have any “trust or faith in her abilities”.

A small number of uniformed police officers were deployed to the rally, which has been entirely peaceful.

Speaking to Kent on Sunday in December, Kent Police Chief Constable Michael Fuller said the Home Secretary had “taken advantage” of his officers and left them feeling “demoralised and de-motivated”.

Might have to segregate the police from the Home Secretary.

Why shocked Col? Huge amounts of trouble between the Sarf London muppets recently - if the children can't play nicely, they shouldn't be allowed to play at all!

I was there marching in my white cap.

It felt good to be a rebel!

The best moment for me was when a lady(?) from "Class War," who were there in very small numbers, decided to walk along the pavement harranging the assembled masses with language too foul for a woman of such high class and breeding.

She was giving full vent to her feelings about the police (and life) in a normal society and was totally unaware of the railings she was walking towards, as she was facing the marchers.

She hit them very hard and nearly decapitated herself...... Much to the amusement of Several hundred people!
