Oh Greenie

Well first of all he left the mike open then went into the opposing commentary box and was very cringingly apologetic to them that the Fleet had won the match. He then done his warm up of 3,2,1 before his piece to the listeners was supposed to be aired. It made me squirm just listening to it. Gaff or what!!

gore

And before that he had announced the result as Stafford 1 v Ebbsfleet United 0 only to be corrected.

Oh and he also called us Gravesend & Northfleet, also to be corrected.

I have never heard a broadcast by him without either serious hesitation or a mistake.

BBC Radio Kent at it's finest!

And that is what I love about his commentaries. They are fans who do a sterling job. Mistakes...Oh my god..We all make them. Don't we??

I appreciate your comments but I just think It's good entertainment, especially when the game is pretty dire.

I think they're known as 'colemanballs' or 'murrayisms'. For the the younger listeners that's David Coleman and Murray Walker.

Example, from David Coleman commentating on an athletics event 'as he opens his legs you can see his class'. Or, Murray Walker who was heard to say just before the winner of a Rallycross event at Lydden drove into the banking 'that's the benefit of a clear screen'.

Gems indeed.

If you want professional commentators, watch/listen to the Premiership Games..............They make more mistakes, think they know everything, and never get any flack!

I would rather listen to Greenie and Chas, than listen to nobody at all, or a BBC stuffed shirt, that has no knowledge of the clubs he is commentating on!

For what its worth, I think they are great as well!

They are obviously fans, as you can tell when we score and I wouldn't change their style for anything.

Who cares if they make the occasional gaff, its part and parcel of Non-League as far as I'm concerned. Abd at least they are not afraaid to admit it when we play pants football!

Long may the Greenie and Lord Chaz reign supreme on the Kentish Airways!

I dont think its anything to do with it being Non-League, more to do with listening to real fans commenting on a game. The pair of them did a great job on Saturday, having to fill 90 mins when the game sounded extremely dull. And then all the excitement happens in time added on - no excuses needed for a bit of exuberance!

Keep up the good work lads!

(agree with Slarti tho - a little less Spurs, and mentioning that you would rather have stayed in Kent to watch Gillingham win... tut, tut)

Re the "Spurs thing", you must appreciate that Greenie is a Gooner. Matt Davison is Spurs and so am I, so between us we have an enormous amount of banter both off and on air. To describe my support of Spurs as "long suffering" is an understatement and I have had to endure this while the Ar*e have become one of the most attractive and successful teams on the planet. Sorry if I get a bit enthusiastic about a Spurs goal - even a throw in - but it is so rare for anything to go our way.

So on the ocassions when I am paired with Greenie I never miss any opportunity to give him a bit of stick if I can. Sory, but I can't help it.

After all, I am just a fan with a microphone.
