I think that when your lucks out..... its really out!

Before we have to suffer C.G wittering on about how he was right to get Mr Daish to pick Akinde..... he was pants 'til we scored.

Mind you its the mark of a true goalscorer to put one in the net even while falling over!!! Well done J.A!!!!

But it was Chas that swore lol I will take us scoring a goal anyhow, and anyway to be honest, as we have let some crabby ones in, Is that the first time we have kept a clean sheet in the league without Macca playing ?

I disagree about the Akinde comment. John today combined Raphael's and Chukki's styles of play and bettered them. He was a brilliant target-man, holding the ball up well, winning the flick-ons and being strong in the air, as well as being sound when the ball was on the floor, playing simple, clever balls to the midfield and to the wings. He was the target man and the skilful striker. Also, Akinde's play is very simple; he can be as effective with two touches of the ball as Chukki, Raphael or Luke Moore can be with twice as many.

When we got it down and played today, we looked dangerous. We threatened a lot down both wings, and surged through the middle well, too. How we did not score until the 91st minute I do not know- so many clearcut chances were missed. McPhee was his usual brilliant self and Sasha slowly looks to be regaining form.

100 or so fans there today. The majority were MyFC's; if they have this effect on any more of our away turnouts, I will be happy. They added to the presence and joined in with the singing as well as being good company, as you would expect them to be. 'They' are really no different to 'us', and we are all just fans of the game wanting Ebbsfleet to do well.

Three points, a good display, a great atmosphere! I can't wait for Tuesday!

CG....I have removed the religous symbol from the top of my Christmas tree ( sorry for mentioning the "C" word ) and replaced it with an effigy of your good self, complete with anorak & conk.....and of course halo !!

Forget Capello......let's hire CG....he would be cheaper for one thing....and most of us can't understand b*llocks in Italian !!

Happy New Year to all.....if we last the next few days !

Cheers,

At this point of the season, any win is a good win. The 3 points today has got the Fleet back to 7 points out of a playoff spot (combined with Burton Albion's draw today and I know it's actually 6 points, but with the goal diferential so wide, 7 points is more realistic). With Akinde showing good form up front, what else does the Fleet need player wise to possibly make a playoff run? (or even to strengthen the bench?)

Thought Akinde was decent. He is raw but shows good touches, his hold up play is good and turns the defenders well, if his play matures (as it should) he will be a handful.

Overall, I felt we deserved it and were clearly the fitter side in the closing stages. We created good chances, especially Mcphees' in the first half. But they had chances too.

We do look so much better when we get the ball down and play, but there is still a tendency to lump it which is hopeless when you are playing into the face of a gale.

Certainly a decent run now will put us within touching distance of the play off's, but I thought Stafford were very ordinairy and will do well to stay up.

Stafford fan here.

Very poor conditions for playing football yesterday which made it difficult for either team to play any decent football.

I thought you were quite poor as you were not much better than us and we aren't any good when have a full team, and we have injuries galore at present.

We have two left backs out and our best central defender, we are also missing the player who was our top goal scorer when injured. Two players played yesterday who weren't fully fit (one Smith hobbled off injured again) Add to that we are short a midfield player who was sent off on Boxingday for a challenge less rough than Akinde's on our keeper in first half so rub salt in when he scored winner as if we had of had Wednesday ref he would have been sent off! ( please note I don't think it was a red card it was wednesdays ref who robbed us of a player for 3 matches)

Anyway big thank you the extra MYFC fans who made the journey we need the money as with the number of home fans dropping we have had no home win since April.

Good luck for rest of season doubt we will play you against for some time ( unless in a cup match) as we will need a few teams to go bust as we wont be out bottom 4 by April.

Stafford Boro

Had to make do with listening to the game on the net (with the rather bizarre commentary from our two experts - Think they were suffering from a Christmas excess!)

I can only go by what they were saying and it seems we did just about enough to get the result. That said, it seems that if your going to survive you will need a big dose of luck and you need to win some home games!

It would be a shame to lose you from the Division as your supporters are always friendly and dont suffer from the "Big Boy" syndrome that affects a lot of the more "Illustrious" clubs.

Did anyone mention Aldershit/Cambridge/Oxford/Torquay?

Anyway all is not lost, one or two clubs are bound to go bust at the end of the season so heres hoping to see you again before too long!
