Basildon United SLUM (FACT)

Recommended Posts

I was one of the players who played in that local derby on saturday and to be honest whilst i appreciate some harsh words were said during in the game here are a few reasons I fully back Mr Doyle with his Rants on saturday and hopefully i can enlighten a few of you basildon spectatotrs, fans or management to some of the reasons maybe Mr doyle wasn't in such a merry mood despite it being christmas on his arrival to basildon on saturday.

FACT - We turn up to Ghost Town FC where quite simply this place makes the Spotted dog look like a palace. The changing rooms are an absolute joke. The ceilings are held up by shoe strings, the poxy showers 4 in total only had one shower head are an absolute joke and it would seem some absolute jubbly would rather spend more time marking BUFC in front of the lamp post as you run out than actually putting some sand in the joke goal mouths in which I was absolutely shocked to turn up and see our coach kieran out their with a wheel barrow and a shovel doing it himself. One of our players had to wait 40 minutes just to have a s**t on arrival because the toilets weren't fit for aids. The pitch had more crators than the moon and to be honest i could sort of see where Mr doyles attitude had come from prior to kick off. No sandwiches at the end of the game and a ref that just about matched the standard of the facilities. So lets put this in context say Mr Doyle did say basildon was a slum after the game, has he insulted someone or simply hit the nail on the head because to be honest the place needs bull dozing, its not fit for the senior league and I can safely say YES it is a SLUM!

I wonder if the Bowers management and players will have learned not to embarrass themselves and their club by then. If not, the Bowers committee will not have done their duty and acted on their responsibilities under rule 8.22.4 of the league handbook.

then that can he. passion always runs high after any match, especially local derbys involving clubs that you have played/managed for before.

more then enough has been said on this subject and most of it complete tosh, good luck tomorrow, hope you get something out of the game at romford.

p.s think the league handbook was used to fill the hole in roof last year. whistle

It's more amusing than anything else, this. A couple of levels or so up from park football and some people come across as Charlie Big Potatoes.

It may have escaped your notice but the club itself has been in neglect for some 17 years or so. The people at the club now, who are trying to turn things around, have at the moment a budget of zero. There is no magic wand just around the corner. Hard graft for the people behind the scenes and 4 showers with just one head are the order of the day for the time being.

In my exalted position from the stand I cannot vouch for the pitch but I can confirm that this is the first complaint from any player or official this season. Whilst it doesn't make the comments any less valid it does tend to put things into a touch more perspective. And, after all, it's the old football cliche of "It's the same for both teams."

Quite frankly the moan about sandwiches are laughable. When the club doesn't, financially and figuratively, have a pot to pee in, should it really be expected for a volunteer to put their hands in their pocket just so somebody else doesn't go without their cheese sarnie?

Sure, there are a few things that need turning around at Basildon United, both results and facility wise, but the people that are there are good, honest, down-to-earth sorts who are doing their level best to keep the club as a going concern. What shines through from reading the opening post, though, is that there's one thing money can't buy. Class. Which was amply demonstrated both here and by other individuals on Boxing Day.

Perhaps the poster should acquaint himself with the "facts" before putting finger to keyboard in future.
